Are we a selling club?

I'm having an ongoing argument/discussion with a pot chasing local Man U fan who mocks Leicester as a selling club, despite him being a mate of mine I did find myself getting a little irritated after his latest salvo.

Whilst I have no option to admit that in years gone by we were, although I feel able to justify that approach due to our limited funds and the benefits of getting some cash into empty coffers.

He supports his stance by pointing out we have sold at least one major player every season since winning the league in 2016, although swapping Chillwell for little Wes was a fantastic piece of business.

I support my argument that despite the players leaving, we are not now a selling club, we've have had an excellent recruitment team in place for a number of years now, who unearth fantastic talent which the "big 6" eye up and covet, the big 6 who in my opinion can at times act in a morally bankrupt manner, unsettle the Leicester talent they covet in any number of ways including I suspect illegal tap ups.

The Leicester player who let's not be coy plays for a non fashionable East Midlands club with a healthy, but not unlimited bank balance, suddenly learns that one of the big 6 clubs are interested in him, he can at least double his wages, play for a high profile club with global support and get to live in a fashionable place like Manchester of London. His head is turned, its no surprise and as long as they go about it in the right way, they've earned their move by attracting the high profile attention, but from the moment their head is turned, they want the move and as we saw with the likes of Mahrez are of no more use to us. At least we can now hold out for a fantastic price to make the move more palatable to us (Maguire).

So, are we a selling club or not?

A selling Club, produces Talent to move on for profit to keep the Club Financially stable.

The 5 players mentioned by Nuneaton wanted away, we didn’t put them up for sale to cash in.

We did cash in in most cases due to brilliant Club Management that if you want them you pay what we say.

Massive difference between the two scenarios.

Ps No means No, we should all know that

Here's a different definition of a selling club. We don't satisfy top talent as a long term career choice, so we end up having to sell key players despite not wanting them to go (however much we've managed to extract in value from the buyers).

Honorable exceptions Vardy, Kasper and (just for Dunge) Kingy.

I'm sticking with yes.
