was never a huge fan of roberts but as matty said he is behind only bamford up front and has been quite good the last few games. at this point i don't want rodrigo as the lone striker hes been decent playing behind.
lowfields, your glasses must be painted over. you're not seeing any of the good stuff.

He was out of his bedroom after bed time. It's not a big deal.

And for those that cannot see the potential in Roberts, what are you looking at when you watch us play?

I can see the potential in him, potentially he could never score again, he's certainly going that way.

You're not nearly as funny as you think you are.

Too many people are desperate for cooper and Roberts to fail.

To justify them not rating them, it really is a bad trait.

I was probably phillips biggest critic a few years on here, got it wrong, but so happy I did.

Dallas another one, who I didn’t rate, but I don’t go looking for poor performances or mistakes, why would I ??

Cooper been our best centre half this season, and Robert been excellent for a month and improving every game.

If people look at the link Els has put up it says!..

"This season he has played in 18 top flight games for Marcelo Bielsa and started the last six."

So those that say he isn't a regular means Bielsa hasn't a clue!..

Am I glad Bielsa does things his way and is happy to pick who he picks to get us where he's got us, it's be a pain thinking of what might be!..

Still amazes me the way Bielsa took a bang average championship level midfielder and turned him into a world class defensive midfielder

He's behind Bamford and Rodrigo in the striker position and we should be signing a Buendia calibre number 10 in the summer, where does he fit in a team which plays only 1 up top? Good player but like Rodrigo, doesn't really fit. if we played 2 or 3 up top, he would play regularly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

All good points. Do think it’s been difficult for him to find his best position and what his role is.

But the point is about seeing his potential. You clearly see it too.

Doesn’t mean he will definitely make it. Doesn’t mean he’s definitely what we need.

Potential is potential, not certainty.

And the lad has to improve in a few areas. But in some areas he shows some real exceptional ability. And mostly in the areas hardest to teach. He’s brilliant at taking the ball on the half turn. He’s got very quick feet. He’s strong. Can play a brilliant weighted through ball.

Needs to improve decision making and composure first and foremost. And if he can’t then he won’t be good enough. But if he can then he could be a player worth well into 7 figures.

For me that’s worth giving him a chance for now. Even if it’s just a 25% chance of success. Surely that’s a better risk than offloading him for a small fee?

Since 2018 he has played in 82 games, and scored 7 goals, yes I get that in a lot of those matches he hasn't got much game time but close to one in 12 just is nowhere near good enough. He has scored a couple of times for the U23's but doesn't stand out and the goals he has scored have been when he has pulled rank at penalties. I think we need better.

Judging players on one statistic isn't a very effective way to view a player for their overall game, though? For most of those years he has been coming off the bench, and for the vast majority he has been an U21 player. Got to have some perspective.

Then there's the injury problems which haven't helped, but he seems to have got over, at least this season.

Yes obviously that's a problem. But this is why we are talking about potential and not a great player.

If you watch him play you can see that there are some really impressive traits. At the moment there a few weaknesses to his game that need to be resolved for him to make it. But surely you can see that if he were to sort that out he has a lot of potential?

The issues that need resolving are mostly around composure and decision making too. Two traits that he possibly has struggled with because his injuries mean he's never had a solid run of games. Now he is getting a reasonable run and is already improving.

I really can't understand how anyone cannot see the positives to his game. And relying on a stat like yours is ignoring so much of the game. Stats are good to an extent but they miss so much information. If stats could tell us everything we wouldn't have scouts.

I think I'm a right miserable kant Lubo, more cynical than you'd ever imagine. If your assessment is correct, god help me.
