Guardian just ruled out City signing a striker this Summer, blaming silly transfer fees.

Fast forward three months: "it was an opportunity we couldn't turn down. I'm so so happy he chose our project."

City have never paid over the top prices to be fair. They spend a lot of cash but on multiple players.

Their record signing is De Bruyne for £68m 6 years ago.

Yes but with FFP being cancelled, the purse.strings are loosened, surely.

City clearly don't want to spend 100m on one player because of the bad publicity it will bring. They are happy to spend the most overall but spread it out over more players. Moral victory for them.

That way Pep and City fans can keep saying we don't spend 80m on players like some clubs do despite the fact they have more 50 to 60m players than the whole league combined almost. As if it's unfair on them 😂

Haaland, Kane n Mbappe are going nowhere this summer.

Nobody would question any club spending £100m on a talent like Haaland.

City have spent £100m plus during windows before.

After defeating UEFA's FFP charge, I dont think they care about the negative attention signing Haaland would bring.

They have never spent it on one player. I don't think they will start now.

Haaland may well end up at City but if he does I think it's more likely going to be next year with the release clause or later in his career.

I don't see City spending 130m to bring him in now. I actually don't see anyone spending it.

I expect Haaland to go to city for 20m quid transfer fee

no doubt Etihad will sign a record sponsorship deal with dortmund and Raiola will become ambassador for Penne pasta in Abu Dhabi for an undisclosed consulting fee

nothing to see here.....

The media would put a negative slant on it if City signed Haaland on a free transfer and Raiola paid all his travel expenses.
