could blame him. He would never ever in a million years have worked with such mentally weak squad of players, incapable of seeing out games with leads going into the latter part of games. Not sure how many points have been dropped from winning positions now, all because the defence is totally useless, and the captain, the goalie, cannot organise them. You can blame Jose all you like, but the players are 100 per cent to blame for keep dropping all these points from winning positions.
No manager in world football would ever get this mentally weak squad of players to be any good. They stroll around when they are in front, they cannot defend crosses to save their lives, the goalie flaps about at corners, they never ever control games even when they are in front. Then when they get chances to seal games, they always end up messing up. All it needed was a simple pass from Lamela to his right, and Spurs would have probably been 3-1 up, instead he chose the more difficult option passed to Kane, who had a more difficult chance, and hit the post.
The stats do not lie, 15 points dropped from winning positions, 11 dropped in the last 10 minutes of games. That proves conclusively how weak mentally the players are.
You can change the manager, but until this set of players is changed, then it will be same old same.
If I was Jose I would walk, and who

Mourinho wanted Skriniar last summer, so could obviously see the problem we have at CB, but that was too expensive for Levy and he gave him a championship CB with potential (but with no PL experience) instead. What we needed was a ready to go established player. The same with the signing of Doherty, a cheap make do signing instead of going out and bringing in the top quality which we need.
The book stops with ENIC and Levy, it doesnt matter who the manager is when the owners have this level of ambition.

I’ll ask again....
Sandy, in your opinion, what is the manager responsible for? Just a straight and honest answer without spin please
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A manager is responsible for picking the best team available, or one that he considers the best team, putting them on the pitch, and then telling them all to do their jobs to the best of their ability.
What a manager is not responsible for is players constantly making schoolboy errors every game, to gift the opposition goals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There we have it ladies and gentlemen. Sandy has absolutely no clue what a football manager’s role is.
What about individual man management? What about player development: mentally, tactically, physically? What about squad management? How about game tactics?
“Telling them to do their jobs to the best of their ability”

If that’s what he wants, he should go and support a team that blows hundreds of millions every year.
...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, you were calling it our from the day he was appointed. So you obviously have an agenda against Jose.
As I have always said I support the club, not managers, not players,
...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s precisely because I love my club that I don’t want him there any more.
...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that is simply not true, when Jose came in Spurs were like 13th in the table, they are now like 4th, a couple of points of a CL place, been humilated by Colchester in the League Cup, they are now in a final, and had their worse ever European home defeat.
And seriously, you like all of us, have not got a clue what goes on in the dressing room, just media stuff you pick up on.
So try to give a balanced viewpoint mate. I am fed up with keep harping back to Poch, he left 18 months ago FFS.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy, you're having a mate, how can you suggest someone else have a balanced viewpoint when you believe whoever disagrees with yours is plain wrong?
Also, why, if he's such a good coach/manager hasn't Maureen done what other (supposedly inferior managers) have done and sideline the worst offenders in the squad, replacing them with youth players?
It's not rocket science.
If a player cannot be motivated enough to play to the best of his ability, bring in someone who will run through walls to be in the 1st team. It can't be any worse than what you have now AND it will improve the youth players for the future, saving (or making) the club a fortune.

Sandy
We’re paying Jose £15m a year
----------------------------------------------------------------------
£15 million a year is peanuts in the grand scheme of things. Average players get brought and sold for £50 million or more. So paying a manager say £40 odd million over three years, is no worse than spending £100 million on say three or four rubbish squad players over the same period.
Do you think Spurs will get a new manager for anything less? That is just about the going rate right now for a Prem manager.

If Jose left in the summer, what prem do you think would take him if there was an opening? I'm thinking Everton, Wolves and West Ham are pretty much where he would be at. He's a manager on a downward curve and spurs should be looking for a manager who is on the way up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No such thing as a manager on the up. Most of the so called top managers have untold amounts of money at their disposal. Spurs simply do not have that. Their may be an up and coming manager who is flavour of the month, but absolutely no way of knowing if he would be any good at Spurs. Moyes was an up and coming manager, and went to United and failed. Rodgers did the same at Liverpool. Lampard was an up and coming manager and went to Chelsea, he got the sack. Being a successful manager in the modern era is really all about how much money a club has, as to anything else. A lot of it is absolutely pot luck more than anything else.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No such thing as an up and coming manager?
By very definition its someone who is progressing and will continue to develop and get better. If there was no such thing everyone who isn't at the elite level would stay there and never get better.... you may mean there are no guarantees, which is true. There are certainly many who would have spurs in a better place in the next two years than Jose will have it he stays.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don`t know that at all. Pure guess work, they could just as well take Spurs backwards. As I said picking managers are pretty well pot luck, unless you have lots of money. Leicester got lucky with Raneiri, then sacked him 12 months later.

I like how someone like Danny Rose is being used as the type of great player Poch inherited.
He was a complete joke before poch. Absolutely awful. Then poch did this thing called coaching and man management and he developed him into the best left back in the league.
Jose decided to build his defence around Eric Dier and signed Matt Doherty
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He then threw him under a bus.

He has brought in Tanganga and Rodon, younger players, so he has to be applauded for that. Rome was not built in a day, and I have said many times the whole defence needs a rebuild. Not sure why you and most supporters cannot get your head around that simple fact. Who are these so called inferior managers that have all these worldies as defenders, that have come from the youth team?

Yes Dele was one of those young players that peaked at an early age, then regressed for the rest of their careers. He was certainly not the first, and will certainly not be the last. Plenty of 20 year olds have been worldies for a season or two, then they vanish without trace.

Nobody said 'worldies', or are you saying you'd need worldie youth defenders to replace the dross you have playing now?
Chelsea, City, United and Liverpool have all played young academy defenders this season with a bit of success (not always the case though).
The players coming through won't always work BUT you'll never know if you don't at least try.
