As a retired United fan, and season ticket holder for over twenty years, my very ocassional outings to games are restricted to watching this island club.
Doing okay, actually. No, not me - prostate cancer has returned again - the team. Second place in the second tier, and very likely to return to La Liga top flight once more.
Now, I know the Germans treat the Baleares as one of their own possessions, but this is an interesting scenario;
Ahead of Liverpool's clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, Jürgen Klopp gave a nod to Real Mallorca when asked at a press conference which Spanish club he would most like to coach.
"The problem is that I don't speak good Spanish. I would only know how to say a few words. Order a beer and little else." He initially preferred not to comment, but then said there are three great teams and joked: "Maybe Mallorca. It would be good to coach them in order to live there."
Real Mallorca responded on Twitter by saying that "the best have always wanted to come". "That is why we now have Luis García Plaza."

Are you saying that you live in Mallorca, Spain and yet only know enough Spanish to order a beer...
Like; "una cerveza por favor"?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My Spanish is actually quite good. However I'm still struggling with the weird Catalan dialect that is dominant here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Try this.

Mallorquin is a different dialect from that in Catalina.
Over here, a beer is a caña.

Or Catalunya, if you want to be so semantic.

makes me laugh when Brits moan about foreigners (especially brown ones) who live in their own communities in the UK who can't speak English very well. And because of that think they should force them to learn it as a requirement, or send them home 'where they came from'.
Whilst most UK expats cant even order a beer in their chosen country.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Many "Brits" can't speak English very well and, if you check some JA606 offerings, they cant spell or construct a sentence that can be understood as being a thought from an "English speaking" citizen.

So the “Brits” are out of order wanting people to speak the local tongue, but the brits who go abroad and don’t speak the local tongue are “a bit daft”
What is a bit daft is you diving in to stick the boot in on the OP, when you’re the only one looking like Trigger’s brush here .

in castllian a glass of beer is caña
mallorquin is one of the 3 recognised catalan dialects
Catalan proper and valenciano being the other 2
there is no separatist sentiment in Mallorca or the Valencia region...they feel proper Spanish

Really?
Pay me for my time and I can photograph three roadside signposts within 5Km of my house - each with the Castilian spray-painted out, and Mallorquin translation added.
And no. That wasn't my work.
