Do we ALWAYS have to pass to Madrid?

First it was karius...here you go fella, just roll that onto your foot Benzema and now its TAA, yeah a nice little header for your Madrid straight onto your path...anytime fellas!!!

FFS.....every fkn time we just pass to a fkn whit shirt WHENEVER we play them...whenever! Madrid must love playing us they just wait and sooner or later we will just pass them the ball right in front of our goal.

Unbelievably Robertson nearly fkn repeated TAA nice trick and got lucky....Madrid didnt score from that one thank fk.

We played 45 minutes tonight....2nd half only. 1st half wtf was that...seriously it was sht. 2-0 at Anfield with no fans? I think we have a 20% chance of going through..let's see, but we surely have to play 90 minutes this time and not 45 minutes!!

Hit and hope player going forward? Oh dear...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is though. If you watch him, he puts in about 20 crosses per match... of course 1 or 2 of them are going to be decent because it's the law of averages. Robertson has a better, more efficient delivery than TAA. It's like when Darron Gibson played for us, he scored loads of goals from 25-30 yards but that's down to the fact he'd take about 5 long range shots every game. Of course some went in and he looked good.

If the team has a player who can deliver that many crosses in per game surely that’s a good thing? I’ve watched him and his delivery is very reliable although I’m not sure we have the players that thrive on crosses tbh.

It’s the same shooting from distance, there is a element of hit and hope but overall if the player has good technique then the ball will find the back of the net. Gerrard was an example he’d try a few shots before he found the sweet spot. Coutinho is another I used to hear supporters asking for him not to try another shot then hey presto he scored another goal. Creative players won’t always get it right.

I’d rather see that that some of the timid play I’ve witnessed from the team this season tbf...

I disagree. For arguments sake if Gerrard or Coutinho (LFC version) took 10 long shots, 6 or 7 of them would be in target.

If TAA produced 10 crosses, 1 or 2 of them would be useful.

Nowhere near the levels of a world class player.

I'd actually say Robertson just smashes crosses into an area for players to attack. Trent has the ability to pick players out more often than not.

All the attention was on Trent's error, but nobody picks up on how he prevented Madrid from scoring a third (just before they actually did from the resulting throw in) and he also made another good block/tackle that could have prevented a further goal and made it 4. Things like will never get spoke about because it's not a stat. And we all know Trent is a "numbers player".

I would also question, on top of his technical game, his mental ability. He really does seem to buckle under pressure in big matches and has a habit of not turning up.

He took a lucky corner mate hardly big game player.

A lucky corner.

He also kept a clean sheet in that CL final as well, but I suppose that won't count because it was lucky?

Or when he scored and kept a clean sheet vs Leicester away last a season on Boxing Day in a 4-0 win in what was considered a big game in the title race at that point. Does that not count either?

I’d love to see Keita shine, and I’m not alone in thinking that. Last night, he just seemed out of place, out of pace, everything. No excuses, but when was the last time he started a game for us? He’s a talented pro, no question, but ‘deep end’ and ‘chucked in’ spring to mind.

Being subbed with only two minutes to go in the first half can’t have done his confidence any good. Jurgen declared, before the game, that he had been impressed by him in training. I don’t think the timing of the substitution hasn’t done either Jurgen or Keita any good.

Here’s hoping he gets another chance to show his form.

Both Kabak and Phillips played their respective best, they were up against world-class strikers. No criticism from me for either of them.

According to a report I read, 1 cross in 64 on average leads to a goal so putting in a useful cross 20% of the time by your own words is absolutely incredible.

Not sure you thought your own argument through.

I genuinely think with fans you'd do it. They'd s41t the bed the second you get 1 goal with the Anfield noise.

Without fans I can't see it at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently the “no fans” is nonsense according to some posters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Madrid also suffer from no fans. Everyone is suffering from no fans. It's a negative impact on everyone except City.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A second leg can be far more impacted by fans I would argue.
