Depay on a free?

I can tell you his answer to this question.

No, okay how much more, no more than than, still more, still more, a little more. Okay now if nobody else will match this then i'll consider.

No idea about his progress since leaving us.... There was a bit of buzz about him the season after he left, but that has died down.

Didn't he mostly play on the left his last time at ot. His attitude was questionable then and Jose didnt waste any time getting rid which was a mistake in hindsight. I would worry then about his attitude if the club were to go back and resign him.

As mentioned above, he has played mainly as centre forward over the last year: an experimental move for the Dutch national team that worked out well and which was then adopted at Lyon. He's said to have matured as a man and a player in his time in France.

I've no idea whether he would be a coherent addition to our squad because I haven't watched him much since he left, and there can be doubts about whether he might freeze on the OT stage again. But it makes zero sense to assume he'd be the same player today as the inexperienced youngster dealing with the pressure of his big move and plunged into a United side that under LVG was struggling for fluency in attack. So many examples of hyped youngsters flopping at their first big club and realising their potential 3-4 years later.

Its a no from me.

Always wondered how he would do in a counter attacking style. The possession style of LVG didn't suit him at all. Have fond memories of Memphis the one time I saw him live was his two brilliant goals against Brugges and almost had a hat trick. Thought he was gonna be a star then. Always wary about players coming back though

It's a no brainer:

* Better than any 'spearhead' currently in the team (Cavani excepted - but age matters).
* Should not have let him go.
* Ideally suited for the EPL.
* Regardless of all the plus points, there's just no reason not to. Squad depth is not exactly United's strength at the moment.

So I suspect the club will do the wrong thing again and ignore him and bring in some over hyped flibbertygibbet from some mid table Iberian league team.

And I suspect the 'limited of brainpower' will still continue to be fooled by alternative realities.

tbf, i know that some people say that this squad is short of leaders, but we're also severely lacking in the flibbertygibbet department.

so depay and a flibbertygibbet for me please.

Well, if he were to come back it would be with him having the view he is now good enough and wanting to prove doubters wrong.

He'd probably be the best striker in the squad if he joined today, he can play wide if needs be and he would arrive knowing what to expect. Worst case we sell him for a profit in 12-18 months.

Though, I don't think he would want the move. He had a torrid time here.
