Derby County 0 - 1 Norwich City

Fresh from the dismal display against Reading, we go again in order to not embarrass ourselves against a Norfolk team that have a swagger and panache that forever eludes us.

Take over talks have been completed, just need that decrepit, inept group called the EFL to ok it. Yes they will, purely to hand us another nail for us to hammer the lid more firmly. Got a bad feeling about all this........I wish I didn't but....

Loads of injuries, which makes naming a team that can compete on Saturday even more difficult. I think we have a defence of sorts but with Waggy, Gregory, Bielik, Byrne, Stretton, Edmundson out, we just need Owd to get crocked then we almost have a full set.

Just don't be embarrassed.....please?

Team news from Fin:-

Marshall
McDonald
Wisdom
Mengi
Forsyth
Bird
Shinnie
Roberts
Lawrence
Jozwiak
Kazim-Richards

Roos (gk), Sibley, Buchanan, Ebosele, Baningime, Cresswell, Knight, Watson, Shonibare.

Byrne ought to be back but he might be the only one. There was quite a bit to be encouraged about against Norwich in terms of the play.....but no goals. Got to play with attacking intent from the start.

I wish Sibley (among others) could find his scoring boots.

Sibley and Lawrence are at least not afraid to try to score. Lawrence makes you groan when he mishits one from a long way out but his goal against Reading shows what he is capable of. Jozwiak loses his nerve when he gets in the penalty area. Roberts looks slightly more likely but hasn't got a strong shot and is very one-footed. Sibley, Lawrence and one other behind CKR seems the best bet. Having Byrne back should help and maybe we will see Buchanan back in for Forsyth though I think the latter has done well.

I'm not sure saying Forsyth has "done well" (i.e. has kept Buchanan out), says a lot for Buchanan though?

Surprised, concerned, worried - take your pick looking at our GF on the weekend. Joint worse with Wycombe, I knew we were bad didn't realise we'd plummeted to the bottom.

"Sibley, Lawrence and one other behind CKR seems the best bet." - You could add Knight to that too and that's possibly our long term problem, fitting these players across the pitch when we have three who would do best behind the CF.

I have faith in Jozwiak coming good but more from what I'm reading (don't get to see much of the game) his confidence/decision making requires work. However with Poland he seems to be doing much better with his decision making?

Scouse, Buchanan is still very young so it is asking for a great deal to have consistency of performance across a whole season, especially in a struggling team. I think he has done tremendously well and will be a very good player but it takes experience to churn out a decent performace even when not on top form. With the situation as dire as it is I can see why Rooney has gone for experience. Similarly Roos did well in the team recently and it isn't a reflection on him that Rooney has gone back to Marshall.

Desi, Jozwiak struggles at Derby because we are a poor side.

I don't think Mo Salah would score many if he played here TBH?

Similarly with Sibley and Bird. In a team that was doing better overall I think they would have shown more. Bird's position is a key one - trying to protect the defence and to be a playmaker at the same time. It takes time to learn a position. Bird might well have blossomed with Bielik alongside him although I think in the last couple of games he has done pretty well and he and Shinnie seem a decent fit at the moment.

Rotherham close the gap to 4 points with 3 games in hand, with an emphatic win.
