Jesse Lingard

We should be looking for at least 40m from WHU for a permanent transfer next year. If not serious questions need to be asked to our transfers guys. The guy is absolutely tearing it apart for West Ham.

our sales department is a joke, we will more likely end up paying westham tto take him

on a serious note how much is lingard worth to west ham?
He is an english international
proving his ability to get them goals
has a long contract with selling club
has a good relationship with moyes
no risk he would not settle at west ham
and brings to the team something they desperately need - goals

i will say 40 million is a steal for west ham not sure if they have that kind of money though. A better deal for west ham is a player swap if they are in fact open to selling rice

----------------------------------------------------------------------
40m a steal? That's cool just price him out of a move. Leaving an unhappy morale and him rotting back in your reserves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
tbh, the bigger losser will be westham if lingard does not join them and maybe lingard. Look at what west ham have spent on attacking players over the last few years and the return that has brought to west ham

as a utd fan if we were lucky enough to have a player on loaned to us, who has settled well and delivering performances in a problematic position I will hope my club does everything they can to get him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I hope they get him, but you don't know our owners. Like getting blood from a stone. And 40m is absolute delusion at its finest for a player who was frozen out and is in a purple patch
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you are right I have no clue about your owners but I have seen west ham spend a lot on attackers that have not delivered as much as lingard in the time he has been on loan

a ruthless club like spurs will definitely get 40 mil but utd are a soft touch when it comes to negotiatin transfers so west ham fans havenothing to fear

Ruthless spurs

letting him go for a reasonable fee is the right thing to do for the player. He owes this fan base nothing as far as I'm concerned, I've been pelted multiple times just for asking people not to be so nasty and personal in their insults of him.
-------------------------------------------------------
I like your sentiment and used to share it but I have come to see that way of thinking is naive after all it is not likeother clubs return the sentiment and leet players join us at reasonable prices when the player wants to join us

how much do west ham want for rice again?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Completely different scenario and strange to compare the 2. Rice is our best player with a huge ceiling

What about £25m and the same again as a bonus if he wins the Ballon d'Or?

rice might be your best player but might completely choke once he makes the step up like many others before him have done. Lingard on the other hand is a player already showing he can deliver result at west ham
so if you are asking for 80 mil plus for someone who might still flop at a different club is it unreasonable for utd to ask for half of that for a player who is shown he is exactly what you need? or wouldd you rather spend 20 million on another attacker who may or ma not deliver?

lingard is more likely to win the golden boy award than the Ballo d'or at this stage of his development

If we kept him and played him on this form we could have turned those draws into wins. Ole got it wrong loaning him out.

It would be fairer on WHUFC to pay them to take him.

But if anything was to come the other way there's a couple of players he could be exchanged for.

Dump him while his stock is high; 'form' is misleading, quality/class are not.

That's fine but we aren't most other clubs. I don't mean that in an arrogant way but we are not and if we have the opportunity to treat people right, we should do. Never mind if club x plays hard ball Iver a different player, we don't need to be haggling over 5 or 10 million quid enough to stop someone who has been with us as long as Jesse has from playing football regularly.

He's back in the England squad, he'd never be there if he were here. Some things are more important than penny pinching and treating those who have done right by us in the right way is one of those things.

But he wasn't playing like that for us and I don't blame him. The lad has had a really tough time and our fans have pelted him repeatedly with abuse. Out of interest I went looking on another forum for posts about Jesse on and around the time he went on loan.

Obviously all the "I'll drive him there myself" comments but also just some nasty, snidy stuff. He's had a lot of abuse on social media and having had personal issues, coupled with being regularly pelted by his own 'fans' as well as the fact we play a different system etc to West Ham, indicate that his form wouldn't be anywhere near this for us.

He's moved away, had a breather and is in an environment he's flourishing in. Good for him, if we can facilitate it becoming a permanent move, great, we should do so.

A LOT of revisionism going on regarding Jesse here. The people who got very personal and nasty will know who they are and I'd hope they'd maybe hold back on the next one but the Internet doesn't half make people suddenly grow a pair. Big brave boys when they can abuse people on a forum from behind a screen.
