Sheff Utd 0 Arsenal 3

Excellent performance. A comfortable and a clean sheet albeit against a tea which is rock bottom with a now -38 goal difference and 25 PL defeats.

Lacazette getting 2 goals will be a confidence booster going into Thursday.
Great that Martinelli also scored via a tap in but at least he was there and alert.

Sakas injury is a worry for Thursday

A clean sheet with Xhaka at left back ?
Will Arteta continue with this ?

The whole season comes down to Thursday

Great result and a good performance i thought. I honestly could not tell the formation we used...Xhaka played similar to where he normally plays but with a focus on the left back area of the pitch. Ceballos was popping up on the left wing a ton. But all in all, it worked.

Martinelli's energy was exactly what we have been lacking and I think Laca put in a fantastic shift and linked play well and of course scored a couple. Pepe also looked threatening every time he ran forward.

BUT...it was Sheffield United. With all due respect, they are poor. For Thursday, I'd love to have Cedric back at RB and maybe put Saka at LB if fit. Otherwise Chambers at RB and Cedric at LB ( bad as this may be). Mari and Holding are a good partnership even though Gabriel is a better defender than Holding. Xhaka back in CM with Partey. Pepe, Martineli and Laca. Odegaard or EsR at number 10 if either is fit. If not...Nelson on the RW and Pepe as second striker where he played for Lille.

Injuries are happening at the worst time

Yeah the formation did seem a bit weird, also saw saka popping up all over the front line. Maybe Arteta told them to be more fluid with their positions, so maybe that helped us look better going forward. Xhaka was a weird one, seemed to play LB and midfield, but never really crossed the halfway line. Quite liked how he was able to switch the play from left the right to start attacks a few times, so that’s one positive if him at LB. but this all could be down to Sheffield weirdly never attempting to target him, so this probably allowed him to drift in field. I’d be very nervous to see him properly put under pressure at LB.

There was some poor moments from us in the game where we looked very passive, we can’t do that at all on Thursday, we have to score so we have to take the game to them. Hard to say what’s best line up for it, probably shouldn’t go with Xhaka at LB because we’ll need someone there who can get up and down pitch to support the attack
