Impactful substitutions

Apparently, Ole currently tops the table for sending on substitutes in the PL who have gone on to score or assist. Nine goals, six assists.

I don't think we can read hugely into this, firstly because it's a pretty small sample and these can throw up misleading patterns. Secondly, I guess it also reflects the fact that we've often been in the position of chasing games, throwing on attacking substitutes and pushing for goals. Compare that with Guardiola's City more often putting games to bed before they make substitutions, reflected in their lowly 17th position in this table (with one goal / three assists by subs). Thirdly, if you did read everything into it, this would tell us that Steve Bruce is the third canniest manager in the Premier League.

However, these stats do serve at least as a qualification to the allegation that Solskjaer is lacking in the ability to change the game with his substitutions.

If this is the case then Ole really is doing a poor job.

If the subs score assist this much when he subs them on late why the hell hasn't he realised they'd score/assist more if he subs them on sooner?

FFS! Just want this article to end already.

I can. You won't be hearing any of it though...

It's hardly Robb v VC Rosso!

To be fair though I have invited Red Russian to be the host.

In addition I've though of a feature for him too. It's called -

Tsar Spotting with Red Russian. Every week RR casts his eye over the numerous names mentioned on JA606 as potential stars of the future. Working closely with Hafi he examines the stats behind the player whilst also casting a more critical, subjective, eye on proceedings.

None of my kids watch television any more, they get all of their infomation/entertainment from YouTube and the like.

I don't know if they're representative of the rest of their age groups, but a TV's just something to plug their Xbox or Playstation into.

Hulk, I don't think it was particularly a WUM on Solskjaer's part. It was worded a bit clumsily as a non-native speaker of English. Mourinho didn't take it seriously, but overreacted to shift the narrative to that controversy rather than Spurs' awful capitulation. Journalists took up the story because they can monetise clicks. And a load of (primarily Spurs) fans dutifully let themselves get worked up about it - displaying the levels of personal agency and autonomous reasoning of a nodding dog on a car dashboard. I was particularly amused by those who suggested that Ole was making a sly dig at food shortages in North Korea, and was therefore tacitly responsible for the abuse Son got. *He knew what he was doing!*

Fair point, probably true, still hilarious though. He probably reacted from his 'player' point of view, not as a manager.
