European Super League

Someone 'in the know' says looks like it's happening, it's really not.

PL have to approve the plan and UEFA is categorically against it.

So nothing has changed, its not going to happen.

They can’t ban players from playing international football for fulfilling their contractual obligations.
===
Firstly, players would be able to get out of their contracts.
Secondly, of course players can be banned if they choose to play in this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why would players be able to get out of their contracts?

The clubs are going to allow them to just terminate their agreements?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because their clubs are leaving the organisations they are contracted in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The players are contracted to UEFA clubs, they are registered by UEFA and if their club are no longer a UEFA club then the player can tear up their contract.

United, Liverpool and Arsenal should be relegated. City and Chelsea docked points. Spurs, who cares

Ridiculous idea, which would be legally challenged and thrown out of any court in about 5 seconds.
If UEFA are serious, ban these clubs from all European competition for 2 years.
But they won't, because their TV rights would be worth about the same as the SPL'S without these clubs being involved. 😅

The players are contracted to clubs registered with the English FA, not UEFA.

This obviously isn’t going to happen if the FA decides to de-register the clubs involved, because it’d mean they could no longer play in the PL. So that’s a moot point.

I have no idea what it might say, if anything, in players’ contracts about the registration of their clubs with the FA. But again, by extension, that’s moot.

It’d also be the best way for them to encourage the clubs to continue with this nonsense.

Burn all their stadiums to the ground and outlaw the playing of football under their names in this country.
