Now I’m not supporting the Super League idea at all but let’s look at it logically and with emotions/passion put to one side.
The Premier League was formed for the sake of money. UEFA sold their soul and have been corrupt for many years. Literally selling the hosting of World Cups. Let’s not mention the lack of sanctions for FFP violations. The moment they have their cash cow possibly taken away is when they care about something.
The investment of foreign owners into our football clubs accelerated a lot of what I would say is ‘football dying’. All they cared about was making money and milking it as much as they can. The Super League should not have come as a surprise. Why didn’t anyone stop the foreign investment before? Or put a cap on wages or transfer fees? Because it was benefitting them. But now a new organisation is trying to blow that out of the water.
Football hasn’t been a ‘working mans game’ for years. Extortionate prices for tickets, merchandise and games on TV are just a few examples. £70+ a month to watch games on top of high ticket prices.
Again I’m not advocating the Super League at all, I don’t support it. But it makes logical sense for the investor to look after his acquisition. Football has been a business for years now and the way it’s turning, it will continue to be, there is no going back.
Football is a Business...

There is a lot of money in football I agree. But I very much disagree with its distribution. If the top clubs earn billions then how hard would it be to set even just half a million aside to pay a person of colour to shoot Poolmyfinger, not to kill him, but to leave him with (even more) brain damage so that he is cared for in hospital by minorities, whilst being fully conscious of his surroundings, but unable to respond to anything, praying for a painless death that never comes.

Instead of hoping someone else does it, why doesn’t your cowardly ass do it yourself?

Too late lads someone has already done it

Reactions on this site have been interesting. Most people are horrified at the damage that's going to be done to every level of the game, and are disillusioned. A few are circumspect, maybe because they're just very focused on their own clubs? Dunno. I've only found two people massively in favour of it. Both Americans, both curnts.

Pool, and who’s the other one?

It may have been a business, but it still had its roots in competition. This kills competition completely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The competition isn't killed completely. The idea was that the league and this would run next to each other. The CL's new planned format wanted to expand to 36teams with a playoff format anyway. 5 teams can still get into the Super League based on their domestic performance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whilst 15 can't miss out due to poor performance domestically. It's not a meritocracy, therefore the very competitive nature that underpins professional football is eroded

Of course the competition is killed. If there’s a guarantee of European participation you kill domestic competition. And you kill it further when six clubs are guaranteed an extra £300m more than they already earn over the rest.
If there’s no meritocracy in a competition it ceases to become a competition. It’s just a product.

Thing is with the revenue streams Guaranteed for these elite 12/15 clubs then why should they invest massively for their squads.
At the moment they have to invest to get the riches of European football from their sponsors and of course prize money. They don't need the investment as much now as their income is guaranteed.
The future could be that clubs owners will take billions out of the game to go straight into their pockets for a competition that will be a competition in name only.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could well be, especially for unambitious owners like the Glazers. It would be different for the Spanish clubs though.
