Progress

Now I know I'm an old git, so have to give consideration to anything new, otherwise it's all too easy to go down the route of ' It wasn't like that when I were a lad" etc.

United were the first team to advocate the European cup, and had to go against the FA, was that progress, yes it was.

Televised live football, was it progress, yes it was.

PL, a little more difficult, probably yes, but the demise of Bury FC should not have been allowed to happen with the money in the game, so a qualified success.

CL over Eurpean cup, definitely, there was a demand for it.

Super league, at this stage I think not. There are so many details to iron out and be known they cannot all be commented on, but one can.
Founder members will always be founder members.
Or as I prefer to think of it "We are rich, and intend to stay that way".
That sticks in my craw, and goes right against what I think of as sport.

So to me it's not progress, it's just greed, and includes my club.

It is money, we know it’s money, it’s transparent and it’s obvious and it goes against the fundamental rule of football - competitiveness

Let’s not second guess any of these excuses from Perez and co

I’ve no issue with a super league as long as it’s not exclusive to some clubs. Make it one that you can be relegated from and get in by winning your home league and it might work. A closed shop is just not something I can contemplate.

Top four stay in. 16 relegated and replaced by teams that finish in the top four of their domestic leagues - even if it has to be through some sort of playoff to get the numbers down to 16 qualifiers.

That means each team will have an incentive to do well in their domestic league in order to stay in or get into the SL.

All of us need to protest in the streets and if necessary vandalize the club property (since we as fans are mog pinger paying for it). Only then Glazers will realize

"But the time is now for all fans of the 6 clubs involved in this lunacy put rivalry aside and rise up as one."

The problem with this is that these fans you talk about sadly only account for a small percentage when you take into account fans from all over the world, most of which have very little knowledge or care of the history of the game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you might be underestimating how engaged or in tune these fans are with the dynamics ,culture and history of the clubs they support.
It's been said before that utd had a sizable global support before the advent of global media and the specific targeting of the global fan base. I think a lot of the global fans interest in their clubs extend beyond the weekly live game they watch and will understand the ramifications of this proposed break away league.

Yeah, you don’t have to go too deep into Twitter to see American PL supporters against the ESL because of the ‘no relegation’ thing.

I don't think they do personally. The vast majority of fans, care about Messi, Ronaldo, Beckham, Real Madrid etc and the owners know it. Just because people are vocal on twitter doesn't mean they are the majority. We are the 'legacy' fans that have been mentioned that they are confident will disapear.

The Super League will likely mean games in different time zones around the world, PPV for every game etc etc.

Add to the fact the governing body here are the CEO's of football clubs adds up to the super league being awful from the off.

Have you not just posted an article musing on buying stock in Manchester United plc?

Ffs, you are beyond ridiculous.

What's "mog pinger" is it some kind of new legal high the youth of today are into?

Good article. Often lazy comparisons are being made with the ESL and other changes in football in the past,
