The Glazers

As some of you will know, I have defended the Glazers more than most on here. I’ve never thought that they were great, benevolent owners or anything but just pushed back against views that in my opinion were over the top regarding their tenure as owners of our club.

This ESL proposition which they appear to be spearheading has changed all that. It’s an abhorrent move that goes against most of the principles of our club and competitive sport as a whole.

These are the same people that threatened to move the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to another US city in the early 90's if a new stadium wasn't built by the Tampa tax paying citizens

Needless to say they got their stadium

Sc¥mbags then and Sc¥mbags now

I was going to write an article, but maybe it’s better as a response here.

Everyone apart from the founding clubs seem to be against it. It will be interesting to see what happens when they send out the invitations to the 5 clubs to make the numbers up to 20.

Will anyone publicly turn them down? Will any club want the backlash they have seen the founding clubs have?

Would be funny as hell if not a single club opted to join them.

I'm very interested to see what happens if it goes ahead in terms of how much of what people say is hot air.

If we fast forward 12 months and sky have been involved in covering it somehow, these papers have been selling and shipping reports of the matches etc and fans on this board are regularly discussing it then it says a lot.

It's fascinating to see in a sort of morbid way. Will PSG stick to their guns? Bayern? If it starts to take off, do people cave? If it doesn't, what happens then? I find it tough to buy that everything just starts as normal again in August, what are the reourcussions of a failed attempt at this?

If it fails, should the 6 involved be removed from the league or relegated to a specific level? Maybe that would allow at least a few years of the other teams competing and thriving?

If it does fail, do the owners sack the clubs off? It seems they've spent a long time putting this together and buying clubs, building stadiums etc to prepare for it. If that's abandoned, do they Jack it in?

It's highlighted a lot of people who are passionate about fair competition and if it doesn't go ahead then I hope people put their money where their mouth is and accept a way of levelling it out because its not fair as it stands. I don't care if a team can eek their way in once a decade, it's not balanced at all.

If it’s allowed to go ahead it won’t fail

That’s why people are up in arms about this, if this was an useless idea coined with no chance of success people wouldn’t be bothered by it, at all

But look at the reactions

Never liked them as owners. If you give them time, you'll eventually see their true colours, and here it is.

I've been anti Glazer since day 1. Glad to see some of our mugs see sense and realise the Glazers are nothing but parasites.
