We've just had all this uproar about the ESL setting up a closed shop, with fans outraged at the idea.
Yet, last season, the SPFL denied Brora Rangers and Kelty Hearts the chance to playoff with League Two bottom side Brechin, as a result of the COVID pandemic, saying it was unfair on Brechin to suffer the loss of their place in the SPFL as a result of the pandemic.
This season, Brechin are currently sitting rock bottom of League Two again, with just 6 points from 18 games. Brora were declared champions of the Highland League, despite only playing 3 out of 16 games, Kelty were declared champions after playing 16 of 32 Lowland League games.
Brechin have written to the SPFL saying it is fundamentally unfair for the pyramid playoffs to go ahead with Brora and Kelty not having played a full season. Brechin are also offering an alternative to the play-offs that would see no relegation from League 2 with both Brora and Kelty awarded a place in the league next season, and further plans to put Rangers and Celtic B teams and two further non-league teams into League Two, expanding the division to 16 teams.
I'm sorry, but if the SPFL pander to this pi$h from Brechin, it will be absolutely abhorrent.
Brechin will have finished bottom of League Two twice in two years, yet they are trying to use COVID to engineer a way to avoid getting relegated.
This is exactly the sort of thing that outraged fans so much about the European Super League, this self interest thinking, and lack of respect for sporting integrity and merit.
This cant be allowed to happen, the play-offs must go ahead!

Embarrassing from Brechin, but since the Highland & Lowland leagues were implemented into the rest of the pyramid the relative success of teams like Cove and Edinburgh City is showing just how poor the teams at the bottom of League 2 are, and chairmen of clubs like Brechin who have never previously been at risk of dropping into non-league football are absolutely shiiiting it. There are many amateur clubs that are far better run than a lot of semi-pro clubs.

Seeing what Brora did to Hearts, why not just stick them in the Premiership?
Any sympathy I had for Brechin dried up when they suggested colt teams. Get in the sea you bunch of hedge-sh@gging weirdos. What happened to them anyway? They were in the Championship just a few seasons ago.
