I took most of the day off and went visiting mates. Everyone else have a good excuse too?
Some of you might be surprised or wondering why I've been so contrarian (aka a d!ck) about the superleague thing? It is not that I particularly thought it was a good idea, more that it seemed inevitable so why rail against it? I guess it was quite a blunt / bad PR attempt but when faced with UEFA intransigence, nimbleness of a weightlifter and vision of Stevie Wonder maybe iyt wa appropriate and we see that suddenly UEFA have a counter plan up their sleeve.
I've not much to say but this landed in my inbox. https://www.trustnet.com/news/13256850/why-the-super-league-fiasco-wont-put-investors-off-football
Aside from the surprise about the overall positive impact of FFP contrary to the views on here the things that stand out are ...
...he noted US sports franchises trade at about 30 to 35x enterprise value to EBITDA, compared with 2 to 5x from European clubs.
and
“Football as a sport has been played for 150 years. But football as an industry is being born right now."
These encapsulate what I was trying to put across - the inevitability. JPM may have been the catalyst this time but if they are doing these sums you can bet everyone else, UEFA aside, are doing them too.
Anyway, was not trying to re-start the ESL moan all over again but just explain where I was at and pass on the info.
Happy weekend folks - few shorts in, wee buzz on, all good. Pray for Zach on the nightshift.
Quiet on here today?

You may be right, Silver but inevitably is not something that fans in the U.K. see atm. Maybe a few years down the line eh?

I think a super league will happen soon enough, when it does the clubs should leave their domestic league.
Cannot possibly expect x amount of clubs to be handed a few hundred million of an advantage every season and expect the domestic league to bend over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You just described the current ECL setup except it is the leagues in every country except the chosen few that have to bend over.
Tbh a greater impact might have been from jpm garnering the latent big clubs in the diddy countries for a super league. Could see big interest in a conference of diddy countries and a conference of the big 5 with the play offs between the top of both. Parity until the final stages, equal funding. Big fight to get in that setup right enough.
