Well, we certainly do need to sign some competition for Meslier's place, preferably someone experienced.

However, I disagree that Meslier should become an "understudy" type of keeper. There have been some mistakes, of course, but I think he's learned a lot and fast and now he justifies his selection.

I also think he's bought into Project LUFC big time and wouldn't be too happy about leaving right now, even if PSG do come sniffing. Living and working in England is very attractive to young Frenchies.

He will be world class. (Meslier not Townsend)

Townsend also talks about ‘if leeds want to maintain prem status’. Our ambitions are a lot higher than that.

Townsend is entitled to his opinion and, to be fair, Meslier would be 2nd choice at best with any of the so-called big six. But one of the reasons we love Bielsa, is he gets the best out of young talent – and that young talent will pay big dividends, given time. If we were to put our ruthless heads on and spend big on a name goalie, it could not only backfire (anyone remember Kiko Casilla?) but it sends out a message to the rest of the team that says: 'No matter how well you perform for this club, it won't guarantee you a place in the team if we get the cash to go and buy big.' That's a surefire way to lose the talent we've got.
Loyalty and trust are rare qualities in this game – and Bielsa personifies both. Meslier will stay, if Bielsa has his way.
