Worst part of the season?

It’s been a terrible season in my book.

I know it’s not over, and it’s still not impossible we could get top four which would really salvage a lot from the season, but, assuming a number of worst case scenarios, what is the worst part of the season for you:

5 star - the football, and gutless performances in general
4 star - missing out on UCL
3 star - losing in a final
2 star - the ESL proposals
1 star - the rivals - Arsenal and / or Chelsea winning a European Cup / FA Cup and / or finishing beneath West Ham (worst case scenario here folks, I’m not saying any of this WILL happen)

For me - it’s the football.

What say you? What’s your biggest negative from the season?

Well losing 3-0 in the Europa is the low point. The football and gutless performances though are what that, 4 and 3 come down to. That's the biggest frustration from the season. Jose looked like he had the answers early on but the terrible negative football took over and it's cost us so many points it's untrue.

It's been a real waste of a season and the worst one for over a decade.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs have scored 115 goals or something this season, the most for over 50 years, so can hardly say it has been negative
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes you can
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes because we've played so many games I would have thought.

How many points have we dropped from winning positions?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
20 points, the most in the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a farce. No doubt mostly from Jose's tactics. I mean the lack of playing Vinicius and Bale speaks for itself.

Worst tactical moment from Jose this season? When he played Sissoko as a winger.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
His line ups and substitutions at times were bizarre. He rotated the defence virtually every game even though his tactics relied on a solid, stable defence. He never rotated Kane or Son enough, just burnt them out. There was a game when we needed a goal desperately and he brought on Lamela and Winks when we had Vinicius, Bale and Lucas on the bench. He played Sissoko as an attacking forward and left Vinicius and Bale on the bench. The set up of the team, the lack of playing style and reliance on individual brilliance, the reactionary tactics, the half time wholesale changes.

He had an absolute mare.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said as far back as when we beat Soton 2-5 that Jose was relying on individual performances / magic. A few people said that game was a tactical masterclass from Jose.

I think time has shown he has no real plan, couldn’t coach the team and relied heavily on Son and Kane.

I’m sure early on their shot to goal ratio was incredible - and it was never going to sustain itself. Then factor in how burnt out Son has become, it’s just clear as daylight Jose didn’t know how to manage the team
----------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL did you see how the team performed before Jose, or Sunday after Jose. When are supporters like you going to realise it is the players not being good enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Some are, some aren’t.

But they are better than what they served up.

Jose’s fault. Period
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jose wasn`t in charge of the final. Whose fault was that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jose. His legacy is lack of tactics, game play, confidence, fitness. That was never going to be resolved in two days, one against the best team in the Prem.

Jose, Jose, Jose, Jose
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Give it up fella. It was Jose`s fault then that they got to the final in the first place.

I get you don`t like him, but all this rubbish about everything was down to him. Now that he has gone, who you going to blame for the bad results. If you think things are suddenly going to change around with this collection of players, then think again fella.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bye. Draw v Chelsea. Brentford. Stoke.

Fair play to Jose.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs had to play both of this seasons CL semi-finalists to win the Carabou Cup. So what was easy about that? You tell me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh and they didn`t draw with Chelsea, they knocked them out. Penalty shoot outs do count, or didn`t you know that Spurs won a European Trophy on the back of a pen shootout. Countries have won World Cups on the back of pen shoot outs. So Spurs didn`t draw with Chelsea they beat them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

No you can't. You can say the season has been disappointing, but to say the team has been negative when they have scored so many is staggering, no matter the opposition. Negative teams would be classed as a team that scored half that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes you can.

And a lot of the goals scored were early on, when we had a fitness advantage, and against European farmers.

Team / squad / season / manager / results / performance - all negative
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Southampton 5-2
Man United 6-1
Leeds 3-0
Burnley 4-0
Crystal Palace 4-0
Man City 2-0
Arsenal 2-0

26 goals in seven games against lots of European Farmers teams against only 3 conceeded.

Negative team that Spurs.

Although I suppose those seven wins, 21 points and 26 goals don`t count, as they were only against farmer teams.

Even Jose's sacking wasn't the glorious moment I was expecting because that super league nonsense was going on at the time.

Sandy is an absolute mug. Spends all his days on here being contrary and, in the process, contradicting himself over and over. He’s been watching football for 60 odd years and yet is one of the most clueless punters going, I don’t know why anyone even entertains him anymore - he’s filtered me for telling him some home truths that he couldn’t handle (apparently that is bullying) and he’s done me a massive favour. My experience of this forum is all the better for not having to interact with him, I highly recommend it to others.

It's funny seeing history repeating itself.

Tottenham are exactly where Arsenal were about a decade ago.

On one hand, you have a club hierarchy solely motivated by the hand-to-mouth realities of funding their stadium mortgage through consistent Champions League qualification.

And on the other, an optimistic fanbase with their heads in the clouds because of all the promises made.

Daniel Levy only cares about Top 4. Everything else is a chore.

This thread could have been lifted straight out of the Arsenal board circa 2011.

If my calculations are correct, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone at your club come out with some updated version of Wenger's famous "Top 4 is a trophy" quote some time next year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely! I couldn't agree more and am staggered that more people do not make this comparison. If we're not careful we could be in for 5-10 years of finishing anywhere between 5th & 10th, the competition in this league is just so fierce.

With Everton, West Ham and Leeds likely to show more ambition on the pitch next season, your next choice of manager is crucial
