IF DERBY WENT DOWN...

What would happen, how would they cope?

When we went down some years back, we had a loyal fan base, the infrastructure and the finances to get us back up albeit after 3 years

But how will Derby cope, I mean look at Sunderland and Ipswich, look how they’ve struggled?

Will they see their attendance drop to around 12K like they did when they were last in the 3rd tier? Will their proposed takeover fall to pieces

There’s no doubt, their game against Sheff Wed, could be their most important one ever - have they got the bottle to see it through?

Time will tell

Local rivalry aside it is sad that two biggish clubs are fighting to avoid the third tier. Both easily average 20000+ attendances in the Championship and would fill their grounds in the Prem.

I've only seen a very small sample of League 1 on Quest but to be honest it looks like more teams are trying to play football and fewer playing hoofball than when we were there. Even so everyone's priority is not dropping down to league 2.

But to answer the question if Derby do go down they will be in really serious trouble. They have a poor squad and a poor manager and no money. I can't see anybody wanting to come in and start throwing money at a badly run league 1 club when there are plenty of badly run Championship clubs to pick from. Rooney wont be staying. They could get lucky and get a new manager who is a really good motivator and a few good loans and freebies. That is there only hope. Otherwise all they have is years of local rivalry with Burton Albion. (Fingers crossed we draw them in the cup)

We should all be thankful to Derby for keeping the season alive and keeping us all entertained.

They could be playing FGR next season!

Like the Owl eluded to, Wednesday already think they’re down so there’s no real pressure on them. Who’d be a Derby fan right now.

Dis Championship board would be a lot less busy. Last season we lost Lids who were the biggest contributers. Derby are currently the biggest contributers and if we lose dem maybe the Championship board dies !!
