Joe Willock

I think it's a great opportunity to get Β£20m for him this summer. Best thing would be to insert a buy back clause just incase he really does smash it in the next couple of seasons.

Willock has done well at Newcastle but I don’t see him being more than a squad player at Arsenal. Another loan or a sale with a buyback clause would be ideal, I get the impression that he needs to play regularly and I don’t see it at Arsenal next season (unless recruitment is terrible).

He doesn't need to anything more than a squad player at Arsenal next season though. Plus, we're going to lose Odegaard and Ceballos, and with AMN probably going too, and assuming we won't be signing more than one CM this summer, where - other than Willock - do you see us getting adequate replacements for those three from?

Are we just using 11 players next season? Never understood people wanting to get rid of young 'squad players'. Willock has shown at Newcastle he can come off the bench and make game changing contributions. He has also shown he can start games and have a positive effect.

My concern is that with his fleeting opportunities at Arsenal he was nowhere near good enough, squad players don’t tend to get a run of games, I get the impression that he needs that.

Willock has been getting the goal recently coming off the bench πŸ€”

I understand that, but there are two factors to this :
(1) Is this a purple patch or is it something he can do consistently ? He couldn’t hit a barn door most of the time at Arsenal.
(2) He may be coming off the bench at Newcastle but at least he is playing - at Arsenal that is far less likely to happen with the same frequency.

You're right, Willock wasn't really that effective this season at Arsenal. But he really didn't get any game time apart from the odd europa game.

Also Auba can't hit a barn door this season. So perhaps it isn't the player after all?

Willock scored 3 goals in 5 appearances for Arsenal in the Europa League this season.

Guess barn doors must have shrunk since then.

Joe has 8 goals in 14 starts/9 sub apps this season.

Desperate for a goal against Villarreal, who can we put on as a goal threat from midfield- Mo Elneny!!!

Tbf our game isn't suited to goalscorers. Willock arriving late in the box is pointless due to the fact someone will have already overhit a cross or ten extra passes back to half way will have been made.
