Usually struggle for rhythm when we see wholesale changes after a big game - actually today we weren’t too bad, and although I’d never say the game should of been over at HT, because Chelsea have the ability to hurt us, we should have started the second in a more commanding position than 1-0 up.
Actually quite an entertaining second half there! But if it was an opportunity for a few fringe players to audition for a start against Chelsea in Istanbul* then I don’t think Cancelo, Sterling or Jesus really seized it. Laporte on the other hand put some great balls about.
Anyway, bit of a weird game, would have been great to put down a marker going into the final, as well as sealing the league after a historic midweek win. But. Here we are, fingers crossed today’s result will be academic in the grand scheme of things.

There's a reason why Mendy rarely starts these days and that display was a great example.
Not too bothered as 7 of the players who started today won't be starting in Istanbul. It does however give the meeja 3 weeks to build Chelsea up which may have been in Pep's thinking if we didn't win.
Should imagine there's no way Aguero will be appearing in Turkey unless we're 3-0 up with 10 minutes to go.

We beat them at Stamford Bridge which was the start of 24 game winning run.
We aren't the ones desperately trying to get into the top 4 today.

Funny this doesnt get mentioned in all the B team chat.
We had a 19 year old bossing the midfield second half and Alonso popping up with a winner in only his second start in 10 games.

I know Pep likes to do things differently, but having a team with no attacking midfielders at all was just plain weird. I get that he didn't want to show his hand ahead of Istanbul but had we won that he would have had a few weeks to come up with something different while playing the B string in the remaining PL games.
Strangest line up I have seen since you-know -who played a gk as a striker.

I'm not too happy about having an 'A' team and 'B' team.
The 'B' team has now lost twice against Chelsea which must be a bit demoralising for those who want to be in the First Choice category like Jesus, Rodri, Cancelo and Sterling.
Torres was a huge disappointment after his heroics against Palace, hopefully this is Mendy's last season with us.
