Jose Hangover

Morning all,
If we’re being honest with ourselves, yesterday’s result didn’t come as a surprise. 18 months under Mourinho has left the team sapped of confidence and void of any ideas of how to play attacking football. The team had been grossly under coached under a fraudster of a manager. One poster in particular will post 2/3 articles a day harping on about how bad the players are. He wasn’t so vocal when Jose was here as any negativity at the time didn’t suit his agenda.

It looks like the shackles are now off under Mason, but he’s just a sticking plaster on a very large and infected wound. We’ll need a monumental rebuild now as many players will need a fresh start elsewhere. The biggest concern is 1) Levy will try to rebuild on a shoestring budget and 2) Not many managers available who can guide us during said rebuild. Especially with peanuts to spend.

This mess is at the door of Levy. His decision making is atrocious and it’s time for him to be accountable. 20 years at the club and 1 trophy to show for it, pathetic.

I haven’t been this deflated as a Spurs fan in years as I genuinely cannot see any light at the end of this tunnel.

Can’t expect to bring in a defensive manager and have him deliver with our hopeless back 4.

Our back 4 on paper isn’t that bad

Compare it to the Leeds one yesterday

I’m sure most fans would want ours ....on paper

It’s the coaching or lack of (apart from dier , he is clueless)

I think Jose just gave up ages ago! To think he has another huge job at Roma

Madness

There is no coaching on a system so our defence is left wide open

When we were at our best dier would drop in and Toby and verts would cover the wide areas

I realise players decline but the fact we have had no system since the end of the poch era (I include his last season) makes our defenders look a lot worse than they are

Not sure about that mate. Dier is probably the worse centre back in the league and Aurier is a complete liability, so that’s 2 players in that 4 that are useless. Reguilon terribly out of form and Toby is way passed his best. A defensive recipe for disaster.

It's all about getting the right manager in now and then working around that. With players probably leaving it's a good time to have a restart with a new manager but if clueless Levy chooses the wrong one then don't expect too much change in the outcome whether we bring in good players or not.

This is the most crucial managerial appointment for a long time. You can afford to get one appointment wrong but two in a row and you're in big trouble!

Our defense wont get in the backline of the best teams..So why do we expect better?
Its a collective..Where was the shield for the defense yesterday. You see players like Bale and Aurier jogging back when they should be busting a gut assuming Jose was indeed the problem. Cant blame it all on Jose.

Many players not good enough, period. They got Jose and Poch the sack and they will do the same to whoever follows. The club needs a decent rebuild bringing players in with the right mentality who want to be at the club and play the modern way. Practically every team presses these days and play a high intensity game which incidentally Poch brought to the club and for some reason decided to curtail. We have been downhill since then. Its the modern way and we need the right players with the technical and physical attributes to embrace it.

The club needs a slow rebuild aka Poch which will also includes the scouting network and for some now the hierarchy.

What i found interesting is that basically, in dropping Bale, Jose knew what he was doing. In some games, the bigger games vs more energetic and quality sides, Bale is often a passenger. Even vs Arsenal it was Bale's presence on the right, ahead of Doherty at RB, that left us exposed down that side.

Yesterday, Bale barely got in the game because he is best in a side when we control the game. We fail to control games, partially because Bale is in the line up.

Mason was very niave in his selction yesterday, throwing ALli & Bale in. We were basically a man short in CM & Aurier had little cover. We handed them the midfield and the right wing. It had to be one or the other and if we had more control of the midfield then Bale would have had far more of the ball. Instead he was feeding off scraps.

Its neither Dele or Bale's fault, but really you cannot play both vs a decent passing, energetic organised team like Leeds.

I dont know why Mason thought we could and it just comes down to sticking the best players on the pitch without really having a good strategy to make it work.

Mason is a rookie so can’t really be blamed. The lad is doing his best with zero experience under his belt.

How a club of our size ends up in this predicament is down to one man and one man only: Levy. Could you imagine any other top 8 side with a 29 year old caretaker manager in charge? We’re just a joke of a club at present.

I've been saying that for a few years now.
But it hasn't happened.....
because until now Spurs have been a profitable club.
But maybe now things will change?
