So with the season coming to a close

and CL places still up for grabs, who will get the four places?

Spurs have next to no chance, so not even going to include them. Man City and Man United already have two places, I think Chelsea are almost guaranteed another place, but I will include them in the equation, other clubs involved Leicester, West Ham and Liverpool. This is going to be very tight. Remaining fixtures, with current fixtures in brackets.

Chelsea (64)
Arsenal (h)
Leicester (h)
Aston Villa (a)

Leicester (63)
Man U (a)
Chelsea (a)
Spurs (h)

West Ham (58)
Brighton (a)
WBA (a)
Southampton (h)

Liverpool (57)
Man United (a)
WBA (a)
Burnley (a)
Palace (h)

If we can say that Chelsea will probably only need one win out of three that will take them to 67 points with a decent goal difference. Leicester it will be squeaky bum time, but they will no doubt beat Spurs last game of the season, so even if they lose the other two games, that would give them 66 points. West Ham have the easiest run in, and could possibly get all nine points, which would take them to 67 points, probably won`t, but still in with a decent chance. Then we have Liverpool, who have the extra game, but that is away to Man United, assuming they lose that, but win their last three games, they would then have 66 points.

This is going to be incredibly tight, and any of those teams drop unexpected points, or others pick up unexpected points could make a big difference.

Could be that both Man United and Spurs roll over to Leicester, to stop Liverpool getting into the CL?

It's going to be Chelsea and Liverpool isn't it? We'll probably take the points off Leicester that will allow Liverpool to overtake them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeh that would be Spursy, although Spurs may need the points for Europa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it Spursy? Who cares what Liverpool do? They’re not our rivals. I’d be more worried in West Ham managed to sneak it. They’ve got a favourable set of fixtures.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Strange comment considering Spurs and Liverpool have been rivals for CL places for the past decade. Whilst West Ham, other than being a London team, have never ever threatened Spurs in the league, and their one season in the sun is hardly likely to worry Spurs long term.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not really a strange comment. It's only you that has a weird hatred of Liverpool. They, along with many others, have been our Champions league rival for places. Ok, we played them in the final but that was a one off.

The truth is, thanks to some terrible decisions made by the club, the Champions League isn't something for us to worry about for a while so I don't give a monkeys what Liverpool do or don't do. West Ham however are a proper rival (weird you don't see that considering you're our best ever fan) so yes, I'd be more bothered if they got a place.

It really is time to take your blinkers off Sandy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

WTF has saying Spurs and Liverpool have been locked in a CL qualification for close on a decade? West Ham have never in my lifetime been a proper rival to Spurs, other than they are a London club. If you think West Ham are a rival, then suggest you haven't been watching football for long.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By that logic are you suggesting that Everton and Liverpool aren't rivals?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Everton and Liverpool have often competed for trophies over their history. Spurs and West Ham never have. Massive difference.

Ok cool, got it, local rivalries count for nothing. Silly me. I'll add Arsenal to the list as well as we've not really competed with them for anything for a while either.

LOL, I have been to more Spurs games than you have had hot dinners. West Ham are a London rival only, they have not ever been a rival to Spurs in winning trophies or competing with them in the league. It`s bit like saying because Bolton are in Greater Manchester, they must be a rival to Manchester United.

When was the last time Spurs went head to head in a semi final or a final or slogged it out for the title? Never is the answer, because it has never happened.

Should have said head to head with West Ham.

I think you've drifted from the original point.

Have a good day Sandy.

Leeds > Man United rivalry has always been strong despite them not competing together for trophies or the league. Same with LFC > Everton

Also, Bolton and United have a (very) long standing antipathy to each other. It's weird to shallowly define 'rival' as a team that recently has been at the same level as you.

It's like something a post '92 McFan would say, rather than the die-hard Spurs pensioner he pretends to be

West Ham are a London rival to Spurs and nothing else. In both clubs long histories they have never come close to being competitive rivals in any competition. What's hard to comprehend about that?
