Just finished re-reading Cuckoo's Nest, Catch 22 and listening to 'Desolation Row and Lou Reed's 'Transformer'. Original works rather than copies/clones of other stuff.
The most recent examples of these (for me) would be 'Two Pints' by Roddy Doyle and any album by Wild Marmalade.
Any other recommendations?

I read Lanark a few years back - it was an 'interesting' read....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Reread it a couple of years ago.It was a bit Ulyseesy in it's use of language etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The space cartoon was better tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Loved that cartoon, one of the best ever, don't recall if they made it home or not?

I want to watch it again but
1. It might be a bit sad to watch a cartoon
and
2. What if it doesn't live up to the memory of it

I kind of don’t want to know.
The ending of Quantum Leap was sad enough.

Loved Quantum Leap
I don't think I know what the ending was and based on Pointy's excellent judgement - I don't think I want to

The ending was quite surprising. Apparently some lubricant was found, and Henry volunteered to have man s@x, really hard, for a really long time.
I won't spoil things by giving away the sordid details!

Been trying to find a download copy of McCarthurs bar but it’ll have to be a paperback purchase I think.
Read it years ago on holiday and just remember bursting out laughing every now and again

McCarthy's Bar?

McCarthy's Bar is a superb book, as was his follow up The Road to McCarthy. Pete McCarthy was a genuinely funny writer, who died way too soon. Would recommend both books to anybody.
