We definitely need an aggressive coach to train our players moving forward. Tactics are for established players that already have the mental capacity to absorb and execute tactics. We definitely do not have these type of players.
Our players are not cerebral...they are reactionary. Jose failed to embrace this is the mindset of 90% of football players in this era.
We need these players to be drilled and coached in all aspects of football..especially what to do 'off the ball'.
We shall see Levy's plan. I'll give him benefit for the doubt for now because very few of us thought Poch would improve Spurs and he did, although our expectations were much lower back then.
If the new appointment does not demand the respect of players from day one then I fear we will continue to fall down the ladder back to the mid table 90s.

We were still poor in possession towards the end of Poch's era. This also coincided with the period when our better players left and we were stuck with Sissoko and Winks in midfield. Jose had cack to work with.
We need a good coach yes, but please better players...Players like Doherty , Sanchez, Dier , Aurier Sissoko wont improve on the ball and in possession and better spatial awareness just because you have a new manager. If they haven't mastered that now they never will.
Our scouting simply is just pisss poor.

i wonder if these players are really that bad.
in the leeds game i was amazed at the lack of movement off the ball compared to us. what are your players supposed to do? you rely so heavily on kane and son to do what comes naturally to them but no one else seems to be on the same page.

Read the OP. It wasn't coaches don't coach tactics but there are tacticians and technicians. Ledley King is a coach but he doesn't teach tactics.
Other coaches like Jose because they've never really played the game to a high level wouldn't dare pretend to be technical instead he will focus on tactics. Someone like Pep or Ancelotti would be able to examine technique to players far better than Jose as they have played the game at the highest level.
Jose has never been one to focus on technique if you read up on Jose you'll find Rui Faria did most of the technical aspects. Instead he put his faith in Sacramento who might not even have agreed with Jose's tactics.

So moving forward I would like to see a hands on coach who can train these guys as well as deliver tactics. This is what a manager that's paid 13m a year should be able to do.

Overpaid and undercoached. That's what I see on our pitch everytime we play.

Do like GLC and Ndombele but they yet to set the world alight yet and we are still to see the best of them I feel..But take those 2 out of the side we are lacking many ball manipulators hence poor link up play particularly in tight spaces.
Our play is very predictable and easily read and a lot of the poor ball work usually stems from the back.
And don't get me started on our off the ball work which is truly poor..
A new manager needs better.

truth out of all of this is that we are very unlikely to get a really great manager.
Levy has an unenviable reputation, well earned. He would have to pay way over the top to get Hansi Flick or someone of that class.
And the odds of Levy parting with that much money is........you can guess!
So next season promises to be a real bummer, with marquee players exiting out the door, etc etc.
Get ready now, lads!
