Leeds Utd v Burnley Matchday Thread

Welcome to the Matchday Thread and a trip to Turf Moor for the Lads, after the demolition of Spurs last week it's easy to get over confident but Burnley, despite being "safe" will be well up for this, but obviously so will we be nice to see how high we can finish

Venue...Turf Moor...Date...15th May...Kick Off...1230hrs

Team News
Leeds United
Leeds Captain Liam Cooper - who has missed the past four games because of suspension and then injury - is available.

Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha and Rodrigo are also pushing for recalls after recently returning to fitness.
Headache for MB Keep faith or bring back the regulars .

Burnley
Burnley defender Phil Bardsley is a definite injury absentee, while goalkeeper Nick Pope and midfielder Dale Stephens will be assessed.

Recent absentees Robbie Brady and Kevin Long will miss out once more.

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

Burnley could win four consecutive home league matches against Leeds for the first time.
However, Leeds are vying to earn an unprecedented fourth straight top-flight victory in this fixture.
Burnley host Leeds in a top-flight match for the first time since September 1975, when the visitors won 1-0.

Burnley
Burnley could set an outright club record of nine consecutive top-flight home league games without a win.
They last endured a nine-match winless league run at home in the third tier in 1998-99.
The Clarets have lost their last four home Premier League games at Turf Moor in May.
Burnley's four victories in their past 16 league fixtures have all come away.
Chris Wood scored in his only Burnley appearance so far against former club Leeds - an 89th-minute penalty in a League Cup tie in September 2017.

Leeds United
Leeds have only lost one of their past eight league matches, winning four and drawing three.
They are the only side yet to draw a Premier League away game this season and are on a nine-match away league run without a clean sheet.
The Whites are one game away from equalling their club record of 24 consecutive away league games without a draw.
Patrick Bamford could become the first Whites player since Peter Lorimer in the 1974-75 campaign to score home and away against Burnley.
Bamford has been involved in 22 Premier League goals this season, providing 15 goals and seven assists.
Nine of those 15 goals have been scored in away matches.
Bamford is the first player in five seasons to score 15 Premier League goals for a promoted club.

So the chance to do the "double" over Burnley and keep our momentum going
It's got to be 0-2 this week with Paddy and Jack rattlin the net

Racist, what?, just Macedonian for you're a donkey I think. Will miss Alioski and his zany sense of humour.

Dyche has said that the referee was responding to a report made by one of the Burnley players. McNeil was substituted almost straight after. Hm.

Said at the time I was worried he might have called him monkey or something, but it does seem that Alioski complains to the referee about something McNeil has said.

Great result, didn’t think we played all that well and the score line flattered us, but 4 really well taken goals, while they fluffed their lines. That’s football.

Bet hey, I’ll take winning 4-0 playing averagely, for all the times we’ve played great and not won!

I think in many ways we played better than we did against Spurs. Spurs just made it so easy for us to look good. Burnley never made it easy for us at all and yet we controlled the vast majority of the game and created enough good chances.

Score line probably flattered us but that was a very good performance.

6 more points for best promoted team in the last 20 years!

Normally agree with your assessments but we see this one differently. Personally I think fans tend to judge the performance on the score line. Thought we gave the ball away repeatedly today, coughed up a number of chances. Not terrible but a long way from one of our best performances. We put a few nice moves together when they were chasing the game but mostly today we were just clinical and the build up play was great for the goals. Nothing wrong with an end result!

Just my view But hey we all see things differently.

It’s a good opinion too.

Maybe I’m taking too much into consideration. Mostly our previous difficult when playing 3-3-3-1 this season and therefore giving it more credit out of relativity to that. Plenty of positives either way

Well he seems to have said that a report was made by one of his players and is being sent to the FA, but neither manager have been particularly up-front about it.

Pleased for Klich, class goal and deserved lead. Having to watch with no sound as my stream audio is slightly ahead of the pictiures. It's actually better with out the commentary.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did exactly the same, but second half I exited the site and went back in again, I refreshed when it lagged and hey presto, I got a different commentary team and it was in sinc with the game! Excellent performance by the lads today, they are getting better all the time. It’s a shame the season is nearly ended.
