MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
Southampton have won five of their last six home league games against Leeds, including the last three in a row.
Leeds are looking to complete a league double over Southampton for the first time since the 2005-06 Championship season. They last won both Premier League fixtures in a season against the Saints in 2001-02.

Southampton
Southampton have scored three or more goals in consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since December 2018.
They are unbeaten in their last four home Premier League games, having won just two of their previous 10 at St Mary's.
The Saints have lost their final home league fixture in just two of the past 15 seasons: in 2016-17 against Stoke and 2017-18 against Manchester City.
They have already set a new Premier League record for the most goals conceded after the turn of the year by a team that avoided relegation. The 44 they have let in surpasses the previous record of 39 set by Spurs (1992-93) and Bradford City (1999-2000).
After keeping eight clean sheets in their opening 17 league fixtures this campaign, they have managed just one in their last 19 matches.

Leeds United
Leeds have won half of their 18 Premier League away games this season - they last reached double figures in a top-flight campaign back in 1973-74, when they won the title.
They could become just the second side to finish a Premier League campaign with no away draws, emulating Tottenham in 2018-19.
Leeds have won four of their five midweek league matches this season, including both away fixtures (5-0 v West Brom, 2-1 v Newcastle).
The have scored a top-flight high of 13 goals from outside the penalty area this season.
Jack Harrison has scored eight goals and provided eight assists - Bruno Fernandes is the only midfielder to be directly involved in more Premier League goal involvements in 2020-21.

There you go then, Southampton sitting in 14th place and looking to avoid us doing the double over them Confidence bound to be high in the Leeds Squad so It's a 0-2 Scoreline for me with Ayling and Paddy rattlin the net this time and Meslier keeping another clean sheet

Kiko to be fair had a good game. Totally agree with Bamford, fuming with that ref(who needs his head examined).

I thought there were two sides to Kiko's game last night, pretty much summed up all he is about, on the one hand the shot stopping but he flapped at a few and his decision making, when to come and when not to let his overall game down.

I thought Kiko had a good game. He made some good saves, and a few things that maybe didn't look great but that apparently he did the right thing for.

His presence at set pieces isn't great, but it was still better than I expected.

Keep Berardi for another season and see how he gets on, he deserves at least that, after fighting to get fit.
--------------------
Why exactly? Not sure whether the half last night was to rest Llorente prior to the Euros or to satisfy the sentimentalists out there but when we have Llorente, Koch, Struijk and Cooper fully fit, when is even going to make the bench.

I expect Pablo, Bera and Alioski all to feature on Sunday, a chance to say their goodbyes.

I have always wanted Kiko to be a success and have never subscribed to this "clown" nonsense, without a doubt, he has always been a good shot stopper.

I am assuming "apparently he did the right thing for" means the ones he came for but didn't get near means the decision was correct he just didn't execute them properly, interesting choice of words.

Add to that Timo Werner fell over after the
Leicester player brushed him, barely inside
the area, moving away from goal. Penalty.

Yet our ref/VAR said Bamford's wasn't?
Clear goal scoring opportunity, denied.

Bollox.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You missed the Werner penalty which clearly was a penalty but wasn't given.

I thought he should have been awarded two pens last night, the second one was soft but the correct decision but the first where it wasn't given was a terrible decision.

VAR is there to rectify clear and obvious errors, the penalty given wasn't one of those, soft but an error? No.

I thought He'd messed up at first, but my brother, a goalkeeper, said that he thought he did the right thing, closing the space, not committing when it became apparent that he wasn't going to beat Walcott to the ball, and then forcing him out wide into a less dangerous area and allowing time for the defence to set themselves and deal with the cross.

Bit of info Edmondson and Casey will be leaving the club, think it will be a good move for both as if they are going to succeed then playing regularly will help them and they can move up the leagues,

Think Lubo called Edmondson a few weeks ago, as for Olly Casey, think the writing has been on the wall for some time. He was has consistently looked 2nd best in partnership with Cresswell. Strangely enough, he has looked much better on the occasions when Cresswell hasn't played, playing alongside Kenneh or Struijk for example.
