Overdose of ODI cricket , flat tracks has adversely affected english test cricket form.

The rot was started when Strauss apponted Trevor Bayliss (a white ball coach) to run test cricket. Most of the current crop of batsmen have the instincts to try and score off every delivery and do not have the ability to play a long innings when required. The whole ethos of test cricket that is personified by New Zealand has been lost. The ECB is after cash and is white ball cricket mad so the 4 day game is sacrificed to the GOD money.

Only one world class batsmen in this lineup and not so long ago England had Strauss, Cook, Trott, Kevin and Bell. Need more balanced approach from England, primary focus should be test cricket and other are all secondary priorities

Would be grosslly unfair atttributing failure to Root. England simply lack world class batsmen and they are persisting with James Anderson and Broad for far too long. Need to give youngster opportunities to fill their void once they leave

Listening on TMS to the last test Andy Zaltsman gave an interesting stat about Anderson. The last 3 or so years his average movement of swing is about 1.3 degrees before that it was more tha 3 degrees. The NZ bowlers were swinging the ball much more than Jimmy in these tests. It does appear that although his physical fitness seems high his bowling action is less effective.

I would not be surprised if his bowling average has ben substantially higher as well. No doubt, he has been among the world's best for lot part of his career but its time for rookie to take his place.

I've just discovered that the test team sponsers sell used cars, so it's hardly surprising that a team sponsored by a used car salesman has many faults.
