Wolves v Man U match preview

Date: Sunday 23rd May
Kick off: 16.00
Venue: Molineux

On Sunday Wolves welcome Manchester United to Molineux for the final game of the season. 4,500 home supporters will be allowed into the stadium, the first time there has been a crowd attendance at Molineux for 14 months.

In the reverse fixture in December, Man U ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a 90th minute goal from Marcus Rashford.

With 2nd place in the league secured and with his side travelling to Gdansk to face Villarreal in the Europa League final just 3 days after this game, it seems unlikely that OGS will field his strongest side at Molineux. If Nuno continues with his recent policy of giving his younger players a chance, the game may be more like an U23 game than a senior one.

The game will be shown live on BT Sport 1 / BT Sport Ultimate

Just go on Match threads of here and other social media especially, and see how many so called United 'fans' have it in for 'Trashford'. Some still with the sarcy comments about putting more effort into feeding dole scrounging kids. (Not so much these days as Marcus seems to have put all that on the back burner recently). Mostly from UK based fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It doesn't necessarily follow that they are hostile to his social activities: could be just that they only care about his football output and when people are toxic, they latch on to anything.

For full disclosure (and I'm not dredging this up to have a go at you), RB&W you wrote several posts about 6 months ago suggesting that Rashford's poor form was down to the distraction of his activism and perhaps he should concentrate more on his football. Obviously you weren't castigating him the way some have, and I fully accept that you don't disagree with his stance on feeding kids in poverty. I think a lot of the commentary you're referencing is coming from the same place but expressed in a much more obnoxious manner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I asked the question if supporters thought it distracted him as a footballer. This was at the height of his fame when all the news focus and front pages were on him. Round the restart and start of the new season. I suspected it did. And I still do. I know from personal experiences how working for charitable causes can take over you focus from your day job. And that is without the media attention and stress of taking on the UK Gvt. God knows what that can do to a 22 year old.

But I agree with Marcus politically, so I wont use it as a stick to beat him with when he's is poor on the pitch. As others clearly do.

I believe that many people might not like Rashy as his politics don't sit comfortably with theirs. And this is something that they are not going to admit.

Isn't the stuff he has been doing all very commendable so far and not controversial? Though granted I don't live there so maybe I am missing things.

Rashford's crime was to speak up for kids to get free school meals when Johnson wanted it stopped. Never going to sit well with BJ's fawning acolytes.

been a while since we've had so many comments on a thread

looks like when we go fishing for comments we need to find a way of dropping the words Rashford or Trashford in there

I don't think the dckheads that run Rashford down on here do it for political reasons at all, I imagine that's a tiny minority of far right loonies. The most stick he gets is from halfwit United 'fans' who seem to want him to be a mix of Pele and both Ronaldo's

. Not surprised unfortunately. Sad day and sad way to go out after a season like this without a proper send off.
