Next season

Well another season comes to an end and in all honestly its been a dreadful not just for where we have finished but the style of play is so hard to watch at times. Arteta is incredibly lucky to still be in a job he's made so many mistakes this season and its not just one or two and most of them are so obvious like when Tierney was injured rather than just putting Saka at left back he puts Xhaka there and what has Cedric done to not be given a chance given how poor Bellerin has become and with Chambers hardly pulling up trees its just so bizzarre his treatment of certain players ie Martinelli, Saliba and Pepe earlier in the season. Bottom line he shouldn't be in a job but somehow he is.

With that being said we've all heard the stories of the owners saying they will invest significantly to get the fans onside we've heard it all before so I don't hold out much hope but we will see.

Objectives for next season must be to qualify for the CL some might say given where we are at the moment that is not realistic but I think that is part of the problem the standards have been lowered so much that we as a club accept mediocrity, it's simply not good enough and must change. If the club aren't going to invest then what is the point in keeping Arteta he's already proven he can't compete with these players so move him on or invest in the squad significantly.

Don't think we have ever heard that. We have heard of "warchests" but that was money we earned and built up with Wengers tightness.

There are two sides to the story. Interesting to know more about Arteta’s enemies outside and in. No question that our firm in the second part of the season has been half decent, minus upsetting defeats when it counted the most. Keep the momentum going and clear more dead wood and who knows.., but it has to be a better season, otherwise the Spaniard has be moved on.

Champions league, not impossible on paper but cannot see it. Let’s focus on getting certain players out:
Xhaka - get this curse out! Haven’t been in the top four since he signed.
Bellerin - best of luck to him, he’ll fit in in Paris.
Willian - just 😂
Luiz - never should have happened in the first place but best of luck to him
Kola - best of luck to him
Cabellos/ Odegard - back to Madrid
Leno - in the shadow of Martinez, go to your new challenge

We have a lot of talent out on loan, that lessens the financial hit of transfers, but we need big investment in key areas.

If you look at our form since Christmas we would be 2nd, I'm not suggesting that counts for much because we were borderline relegation form in the first part of the season - but it does suggest with the right transfer work we can compete for a CL place.

Maybe...but do you honestly trust Arteta to do what needs being done? The squad has not changed much with players coming in January. We mostly shifted players out who were not playing anyway.

But like the OP mentioned...do we trust Arteta to play the right players (Martinelli, Pepe, Cedric) or continue to play Chambers and Willian (especially after he scored his first goal)? Do we trust him to go for games or sit back and have us draw or lose without trying ( like Villarreal and countless games this season)?

I have ZERO faith in him.

continue to play Chambers and Willian
=======
Chambers has been far better than Cedric.

Continue to play Willian? The bloke has started 2 out of the last 11 games and 4 out of the last 24 And Willian hasn't played since he scored
