Old Trafford

In light of the Glazer's recent ESL proposal fiasco and the subsequent supporters protests at Old Trafford, one of the many gripes against the Glazer's ownership of the Club has been voiced as the lack of (any) investment in the Stadium during their 16 year old tenure which, after all these years, is increasingly becoming a bigger problem, year-on-year, both for the Club and those match going supporters who (would) regularly attend games.

One thing that social media sites like this has highlighted since the ESL protests is that match-going supporters in Manchester and the British Isles are merely a minuscule percentage of all United supporters worldwide, against those who follow United in all corners of the globe via the WWW. And that there are many of these internet supporters (many living in America it seems) who don't see the fact that Old Trafford is slowly falling down as a problem in the grand scheme of things and think that 'the stadium roof leaking' (when it's a lot more than that as the video explains) is something to not get too worked up about.

However, Old Trafford is still the jewel in United's crown.. whether you like it or not.... and The Athletic have made this quirky video explaining the problems that have increasingly dogged the stadium over the Glazer's period.

It's quite an eye opener and quite worrying to myself as an Old Skool legacy supporter myself. Does the size and condition of a football club's stadium matter anymore in this TV programme era of watching the beautiful game.

What do you reckon?

I wonder how many of those 300m followers worldwide would still follow United if we were relegated. My guess is that the United “fan base” would shrink to about 500,000
