My Transfer Targets Shortlist

Long article alert!

The squad needs an CB, CDM, and attacker in any positions. Taking a different approach to this because the newspapers are getting lazy again with who they're linking us with and I'm here to do their job.

I've identified Portugal, Spain, and France as a source for higher transfer success rates compared to other leagues. I'll provide a brief excerpt on those that may not be as high profile. Side note: Germany has the high tempo aspect of the game but BuLi players seem to struggle outside of their club's system setup. I watched the more reputable teams, you'll probably notice that in the players I mention below.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CB: Looking for an athletic CB who can ideally play at RCB

Raphael Varane: £50-60m

Jules Kounde: £65m. Issue might be that he's too similar to Lindelof if he cannot adapt to the physicality of the PL.

Pau Torres: £45m Note: Left footed CB playing LCB. Not sure if we’re still looking for this. Same applies to Sven Botman, Benoit Badiashile, Evan N’Dicka, Dan Axel Zagadou, Edmond Rapsoba (right footed LCB).

Ben White: £20m-30m. Harry’s supposedly 1st choice. I’m okay with this actually.

Duje Caleta-Car: £20m-30m. Recently turned down a move to Liverpool. Seems comfortable enough on both sides of the CB position though he plays at LCB more. Great on the ball and an aerial presence similar to Maguire. Without getting too carried away, he reminds me of VVD.

Chancel Mbemba: £15m. Porto's standout who some of you may remember at Newcastle. He caught my eye when Porto played Juventus in the CL. Massively improved alongside with veteran C()nt Pepe with athleticism that will complement Maguire well. May not be as good on the ball as the above but should be able to provide the strength and pace to protect the defense.

Axel Disasi: £15m-25m. Signed from Reims last summer. A bit raw from a decision-making standpoint but I think he’s got the physical tools to succeed alongside Harry.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CDM: Ideally, a younger Matic type player with more mobility

Declan Rice: £70m

Wilfred Ndidi: £70m

Eduardo Camavinga: £70m. A potential generational talent. Could be worth a gamble but does not fit the midfield enforcer type.

Ruben Neves: £50m. Not the enforcer type but a very good player nevertheless.

Yves Bissouma: £25m.

Mauro Arambarri: £21.5m. Plays for a sh()thousery Getafe. Dunno much
about him.

Anguissa: £15m. Solid player. Always unsure if he’s United quality. Some heavy touches against us the other day but he provides a physical presence to the CBs and midfield

Uros Racic: £25m. Matic regen at Valencia. Plays in a 2-man midfield with an attacking minded Soler or an anchor in a midfield 3 behind Soler and Guedes. Compared to the likes of SMS in the Serbian circles but has fallen off the radar this season.

Boubacar Kamara: £30m. Marseille talisman. Seems clumsy at times when you watch him but has been a rock for them in the heart of midfield.

Aurélien Tchouaméni: £30m+ (reckon closer to £50m). Monaco’s midfield anchor. He’s having a stellar season at Monaco, noticeably putting the clamps on Mbappe and co. against PSG. Another younger player that could be worth the gamble. He’s the closest player to Matic IMO.

João Palhinha: £15m: Old teammate of Bruno. Seems to find his footing after a brief spell at Braga. He is phenomenal shielding the defense for Sporting this year and could be in line to represent Portugal in the Euros this summer.

Boubakary Soumare: £35m: Lille's high engined CDM. Very similar to Wilfrid Ndidi at Leicester in his tenacity to break up plays and recycling possession. Note that he may not be the most creative but Lille runs 2 man midfield and he excels in that role. It could be a good fit for Pogba/Bruno.

Attacking players will be inserted in the comments because I've run out of characters. Cheers.

Freedom, and yet you could argue it’s been a failed transfer policy given the overall outlay of those players hasn’t seen much on the pitch. And that’s because of the reasons I mentioned earlier with regard to developing young talent at the biggest clubs. Madrid have had history with this as well.

You need to get a balance. It’s easy to say you are cutting out the middle man, but we have the benefit of hindsight to know these players have become very good. And it ignores all the failures, from clubs dotted all around Europe, and the rapid progression of these particular players.

It’s not like we haven’t tried to invest in young players and develop them into top players anyway. It just hasn’t worked out. Look at Martial, Depay, Zaha and Shaw. Big investments and it’s only Shaw that has really performed at the level of a United player. And it took years to get there.

We could have not signed these guys and actually be looking at all of them now in the market because they’ve had the benefit of playing at a lower level first. Sometimes it is just worth a player developing elsewhere.

Great points Scott. I think after the Heaton signing, we will see how the recruitment strategy will play out this summer. I think we will have more money than expected as the CL money will be the downpayment to expanding the credit line.

I think after yesterday's game, it seems like we need more than 3 signings or not have anyone leave this summer except GKs.

Jules Kounde: £56m-£60m. According to mundodeportivo, Sevilla have set a starting price of €65m to €70m, just below his release clause of €80m.

In all seriousness, yeah we should be good with Varane.

Kounde is going for €30m-€35m + a defender (say around €25m tops).

Way short of what Sevilla said before the Euros
