There's only a few JA606ers on here that know I emigrated to the Baleares ten years ago today, and even fewer who care.
It was also my birthday.
Nonetheless, here I still am, having dealt with two bouts of prostrate cancer, and a third bout looking likely, still alive.
Yesterday, I made a trip 20km down the road to Manacor, at the invitation of a sports journalist I used to employ, to visit Rafa Nadal's tennis academy. Guess who we ran into? Yep, the sweaty King of Clay himself. And who do you think was Rafa's special guest for the opening of his newly expanded sports complex? Non other than the great Vincente Del Bosce himself. Lovely chap.
This follows on from a great couple of days celebrating the local team I try now to support when I can. Yes, the mighty RCD Mallorca have just secured a promotion back to La Liga. It might not seem much, but we're looking forward to seeing all the big boys coming to Son Moix next season. Messi, Modric, Ramos, Suarez, Aguero, etc. So again, a good time to be alive. Having said that, they'll probably all be sold to French and German clubs this summer.
And to top it all off, so looking forward to Olë lifting a trophy tonight. Not a bad week for a birthday, eh?
So, get checked out. Get a finger up your Argentina, and live long and prosper.
Oh, and Happy Birthday to me. Let's hope I see a few more trophies lifted before I croak.

I can confirm I am also of a similar vintage, stayed up well past my bedtime last night to watch BUSBY on sky documentaries although can't say I saw much footage that I haven't seen before.
I am also a fully paid up member of the $hit on a stick club, the new testing kit is slightly easier in that it requires just one application.
I am awaiting my latest results, fingers crossed I'll get the all clear as I have done in all tests previously.

Wow. Good on you, beating the big C twice.

Best of luck, Eric. Hope results are clear.
I share my birthday, today, with Sir Matt.
Remember not to get too hung up on age. Statistics show that those that have the most birthdays tend to live longer.

Thanks been, I’m not in any danger, it’s just when you reach a certain age the NHS send you a ‘kit’ every two years , you do the business (literally) and send it back for analysis, some people have great jobs some get the $hitty end of the stick
