Progress in the league. Failure in cups.

However ultimately United managers are judged on trophies not cementing top 4 finishes. I fear for Ole a bit now. Last night was his chance to get the monkey off his back and we didn't get the job done.

His job isn't under threat in the immediate future as there's no way we are sacking him for finishing 3rd and then 2nd in his only two full seasons in charge. However sadly I think last night could now play on his and the players minds of not being able to get over the line when it truly matters.

If he is to leave us though in the next 12 months he's definitely leaving the club in better shape than the one he inherited. Not really a truly obvious stand out replacement either right now.

I think he's taken United as far as he can, steadied the ship.

Any more time given is time wasted.

United won't win a league or CL title with Ole. Best season he's had and he is barely ahead of a Liverpool team that was gutted by injuries and had 20 different CB pairings.

Wouldn't surprise me if next year, with Liverpool returning to normality on the injury front and Chelsea having a more settled squad/manager, United went back to 4th or lower. I don't think united have really made much progress at all tbh, just other teams misfortune and bad form has made it look otherwise.

Ole will never be the best coach for united. If united gave Ole a 5-10 yr deal, rival fans would celebrate. Says it all really.

Allegri or Conte not stand out managers than Ole?
