The thing is, the only two solutions are reversion to 100% amateur or moving to 100% franchise. The ship has sailed on the former and the current big clubs are unlikely to agree to the latter?

Fwiw, I would find it hilarious if someone invested in Wycombe to win the CL. Ditto I would find it hilarious if someone did the same here with Falkirk, let’s say, to win the league here. Any accusations from OF fans that football would be finished in such a scenario would be akin to the ESL clubs breakaway that was roundly condemned by almost everyone bar myself on here I.e. ‘we want to maintain our inherent advantage’ albeit without new investment.

For me, there is untapped potential in the big but largely excluded clubs in Europe. For those clubs themselves and football on a wider scale. Claims that UEFA are doing everything they can to develop the game are patently rank. It needs vision, bravery, money and long term commitment but I think the answer lies in the courts because all UEFA and FIFA have are threats of exclusion. The courts need to rule that more than one governing body is permitted and bans would be restriction of trade. How many orgs does boxing have?
