So another two players are alleged to have been subjected to racist abuse online.
What was actually said to them on Twitter?
And does it matter?
What I mean by that is, isn’t it about time that people realised that this kind of abuse online is made by a group of people who have the intent to deliberately offend? By highlighting their comments and drawing attention to them, then all that is actually happening is it gives such people the reaction that they actually want?
They deliberately want to cause offence, and will no doubt love it when the media create headlines out of it.
The only way to silence such people is to simply not listen to them. To not draw attention to what they say. And just ignore it.
Because drawing attention to it is just (it seems) causing it to happen even more.
Racist abuse on social media

Take a knee for sexism and racism will soon be forgotten.
Take a knee for pretty much anything and the previous knee will soon be a thing of the past.
People are being led down the never-ending path of hatred when the fact is that most of us are decent people.
Stop being manipulated.

Here we are again, for all the good work being done to tackle this issue
Some individuals can’t/won’t be educated
Probably stems from a lack of self esteem or self worth
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good post, often these people posting this sort of thing lack self esteem or are self loathing so try belittling others to give themselves a boost.
Pathetic really, I hope they get retribution of some sort.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree. But these kind of people don’t care about that. They are, unfortunately all too aware, and they prey on that. Just to get a reaction.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Black racism towards asians and vice versa.
Needs a conversation, but few go there?

There is not a single person in this world alive today who isn’t aware of, or doesn’t know the meaning of, or understand the hatred towards, racism.
---
That's such a naive statement. The fact that it's so prevalent should tell you you're wrong.
I don't doubt that there's sections (UK based racists) that fit into the category you're talking about but you're completely ignoring the reality of people in other countries and cultures.
And besides, you only have to look at the narratives coming out of hardcore Trump supporters or other right wing groups and the language they use about their opposition to see that they truly believe division and hate is justified. The whole 'snowflakes' thing?
In regards to football in particular, is racist abuse actually increasing or is it just being spoken about more openly? I mean, it's all but eradicated from the stands in the UK when a few decades ago it was commonplace. If it is increasing I bet it's from overseas, as the profile of the game and access to the internet progresses into less enlightened areas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually think it’s naive to think that there are people who exist who genuinely have no idea about the concept of race, and have no idea about skin colour, or any concept of oppression, and absolutely no understanding of history at all.
You mention trump supporters. There is not one single trump supporter who is totally unaware of black oppression in the USA. Not one. All you could say in any attempt to defend anyone, is that they see themselves as oppressed, not they don’t regard anyone else to have been oppressed.
The narratives coming out from such people point to an absolute understanding of the concept of race and oppression. Their own warped view however has seem them twist this concept into one in which they have become the victims.
Not one single person who fits into that narrative is ignorant of the concept of race.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Racism is what ignorant white, black and brown People do when presented with reality.
It's funny how racism is only viewed as a white issue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's funny how your reaction to any incidents of white people being racist is to mention that people from other races are racist too

Find it odd that taking a knee draws more offence from some than actual racism.

A rarity these days as Twitter no logor has a conscience.

This is part of the answer: Find them, bang them up.
Another part is regulation of the social media companies requiring that they confirm the identity of their users, and cooperate with the authorities when criminal acts are committed.

Agree, surely it can’t to hard to track these idiots given all the tech out there these days
Pure laziness from tech firms who are more interested in clicks, advertising income, and user numbers.
