Summer sale

I think off the back of our champions league success this summer will be a big one in terms of changes to the squad, it was no secret we tried unsuccessfully to off load players and trim the squad last summer with little luck, this year I think we'll try the same again with a number of players leaving.

Kepa- really tricky one with his price and presumed wages, like many of our flops I think it could be best to loan him out with a fee to a less demanding league and hope he does well so we can sell on to recoup as much as the fee as possible.

Emerson/alonso - we need to move on at least one of these, Chilwell has nailed down the LWB spot with a career bear performance in the final and a great season all round. Based on what we've seen it'll probably be Emerson who goes. Alonso knows the position and is handy to keep in the squad even if just for cup games and his ability to score great goals. Plus I would imagine we could probably get more for Emerson with him being younger etc

Tomori - I was really hoping since he misses out on a chance to impress TT and a clean slate (whatever his/Frank's issue was) and come back this summer to try and impress the manager. But the resurgence of rudiger and the fact he's done so well in Milan makes me think he'll be off. Whoever agreed to the option to buy for 28 million really dropped the ball on this one I fear.

Zouma - the defender with the least amount of game time since TT came in and probably least suited to the back 3, although I'd be more than happy o keep him in the squad as cover I think if we want to command a good fee for him now is probably the time to move him on and get someone more suited to our new formation.

Gilmour - TT has made it clear gilmour isn't a stater currently, at this stage in his career I think a loan to a good Premier league side where he can play every week will do him the world of good. Develop on loan for a year and come back fight for a first team spot.

Jorginho - with his agent constantly talking up a move away and kovacic more than able to cover his role and then some, plus links to other midfielders, rice in particular looking to be gathering abit of pace, now could be the time to look to get some of the money we paid for him back.

Barkley - not much to say on this one really, the sooner we get shut the better, finding a buyer is a different story.

RLC - another year on loan, another year older and seemingly no further along in his Chelsea career. On paper the current formation I think would suit him as one of the front 3 but I think his career has probably run its course with us. His style of play just doesn't fit with our high intesty, fast paced counter attacks and non stop pressing.

Ziyech - not entirely sure why but I can just see us selling him, we have alot of attackers currently and its not going to be easy to keep them all happy going forward. I can see TT looking to move him on replace with one of his own signings.

CHO - 3 different mangers, 3 bright starts, 3 managers who have all decided
to reduce his game time. I'm not sure what it is, but can all 3 really be wrong about him? The talent is there but does he apply it in the right way? And does he have the right mentality to be a top player. I think rather than cut our losses he'll end up on loan. A chance to impress and improve with more minutes and fully recover from his injuries could be just what's needed.

Tammy- the writings been on the wall for a while, and not making the squad for the final, probably puts an end to his career. I genuinely rate Tammy, and its impossible not to like and appreciate his effort, he can play for most sides in the league and improve them for me. With his contract situation we'll probably not be able to command a big fee.

Giroud - much like Tammy he improves alot of sides and its very difficult not to like and appreciate what he's done for us, but at his age he wants to play and will surely he off.

There are a lot of difficult decisions to make. I think we will end up being aggressive in the transfer market again, taking advantage of our privieiged financial position like last year. The transfer ban along with the pandemic actually strengthened our hand and to make the most of it we do need to ship out some players. There are others like bakayoko, Rahman, Miazga, Sarr, Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Batshuayi and Kennedy who can also demand a fee.

What seems clear is that we need to get rid of the dead weight and bring in a centre back, central midfielder and a striker. We have a really good squad and just a couple of decent players will transform us into true challengers.

Ziyech - don't think we will sell him as he is a good player - inverted right winger, number 10, top of a midfield triangle - I think we will only sell him as a part exchange or if he asks to leave.

CHO - I think the talent is there for all to see, and maybe if he hadn't got injured a couple of seasons back when he was on the rise, he would be in a much better position now. The problem is that the game has moved on and pure wingers are not part of the English game at present - look at Sterling at City. It's all about forwards and pressing, space, position and shape. I am not sure CHO is tactically astute enough YET. If we can get a decent amount for him, selling may be an option, for his development as much as anything else!

Giroud and Abraham just don't fit into the pressing style we have. I know people are saying that Tammy would have finished more shots off than Werner, which is without doubt true, but we wouldn't have got there in the first place. Werner's pressing, work rate and movement are actually really impressive - if he could finish just 3 percent of his chances, he'd be top scorer. I reckon Lukaku may be our man - as long as he doesn't suddenly lose his pace!

Times like this I'm glad I'm a fan not a manager. There will be changes for sure and I'll be sorry to see some go but I've always been about the club for me, that never changes.

I would sell both Alonso and Emerson and get someone like Kostic to provide competition to Chilwell

Lots of deadwood to move on. I think we’ll have a shet ton of loans again as it’ll be hard to find clubs for these guys with the fees we’ll be demanding.

Unusually for us on top of a massive triumph, this time I don't think we need to do much (which probably means we'll sign a whole new team & ruin the chemistry, too mix it up ).

I wouldn't want to trim the squad too much cos, though we've not seen it yet, tactically Tuchel's extremely flexible, and as we have seen loves him so rotation. If we can find buyers for the wage leeches like Kepa, Barkley, RLC, etc... to essentially fund the wages of a top class striker that's all we need to do.

Anything else is pretty much subsidiary business. e.g. if we feel CHO could benefit from a loan, we need to sign a RW capable of another position (preferably RWB) to retain the option of width if Tuchel switches to a back 4 at some point

We don't need a new team but we do need a top striker and some strength in midfield and defence.
