Anyone else find it odd

That despite their public distancing of themselves from the ESL their logos and such are still freely displayed on the still active website?

I would imagine that legally there are a few things that need to happen before the clubs that initially signed up to it are completely out and whilst that is still there, this is still a thing. Not to mentioned the other 3 teams who are still fully behind it.
I think something similar will happen under a UEFA umbrella and I have no issue with that. A league format being played alongside the domestic leagues, midweek replacing the current format is the way to go. As long as sporting integrity is kept, and it isn't a closed shop where teams are guaranteed participation, I have no issue with it.

The closed shop is the main reason why the breakaway clubs pushed ahead with the ESL. It’s the raison d’etre of the ESL.

The big boys won’t make peace with UEFA unless and until any UEFA version of the competition guarantees them a place in the competition from now until eternity.

The only real difference between The Super League and The Champs League appears to be that the clubs make less money, for more, dead rubber group games.

it will be funny to see a super league filled with not so super teams.

It will happen one day but they will have to make some serious changes to it in order for it to pass. Free promotion and relegation for starters. Nobody is signing up otherwise.

Football is such a commercial world that it most definitely won't have gone unnoticed by the clubs.

Well isn't three clubs still in the Super League?

It still exists, just not a functioning thing at the moment.

In order for it to pass what?

It’s literally all about being a closed shop. That is the single, defining characteristic of the concept, and the reason they walked away from UEFA.

They asked UEFA for more games in a league format. UEFA said fine. They asked for more of the TV revenue. UEFA said fine. Literally everything they’ve asked UEFA for they’ve either been given already or been told they’re going to get, barring automatic inclusion in the CL every season.

They asked UEFA for that, and (despite going out of its way to help them with both the national and club coefficients) UEFA said no.

That’s really all they want that they haven’t got, and unless they get it, ESL 2.0 is just around the corner.
