“Would Rather Stay Home”

Than manage The Wrong Club

Says everything u need to know about where Spurs are under Levy

Lots of discussion elsewhere, but one of the biggest worries for me is how dispiriting this appointment will be the players.

If we'd have got Conte (top class manager and a winner) or Poch (the feel good factor and return to good football) then there would have been maybe a 10-15% chance of Kane being convinced, and other players like Son and NDombele being happier, maybe even Dele getting some motivation.

But a journeyman who got sacked for finishing 7th?

Anyone with genuine ambition will be queuing up to leave.

Sand, Devonshire etc will find some way to spin this and deflect the blame from Levy pretending this isn’t his fault. Time and time again we see this, yet still supporters are blinded. Proof in the pudding for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Out of intrigue, what has this interview told us that wasn't common knowledge when we first cut contact and the reasons came out?
He left Inter as he thought they needed more transfer funds, we interviewed him, and he could have said it will take £250m to challenge next season.
Which not hope we have those kind of funds, but wouldn't change his opinion that we couldn't challenge without it.
Conte isn't the type of manager Levy set out to appoint, but would have been remiss not to talk to him if available.
No spin, no Levy-licking, but there's a difference between being willing to invest, and asking to invest what we can't afford.

Go support Chelsea / City if you want fantasy football with bottomless funds to buy whatever player / manager you want.

My love of football and Spurs goes deeper than that. If Conte wants the world and we're not prepared to give it to him then so be it. He's an elite manager and its equivalent to us approaching Ronaldo to sign for us but him not being convinced by the project. Move on. Lets see who we get and get behind him. Some have already deemed Fonseca a failure less than 6 hours after rumours began

I aint going to start frothing at the mouth just because Conte didnt come. Feck him!

Inter win the title and he walks away because he wants more funds.

This demonstrates the demands of the man and may be in an environment where most big clubs have lost somewhere between £100m and £150m from covid it is Conte that is being unrealistic.

He walked away because Inter are in trouble money wise and he was told to sell players and replace them at a profit. He is ambitious and wants to win, be it ruthlessly and why not?

Well what a lovely position to be in, in a world where finances have been decimated by Covid and you walk away because the financial picture is not what you want it to be ....and then you decline another opportunity because the financial picture is not as good as you want it to be.

This is the reality of the real world, not the world under-written by oil-fuelled billionaire owners. He only went to Inter because they were under written by massive Chinese investment that has now withdrawn.

It's his prerogative to chose a project or not to match his ambition but if his ambition fails to have a degree of realism about it then there are only a handful of jobs out there for him.

Noticeable that Real Madrid were not in for him, and they are one of the few who could potentially match his ambition - expect him to be the next Utd manager personally, before the end of 21/22 season.

tottenham hot spur. the wrong club.
nice ring to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, maybe we should all follow your lead and defect to Liverpool while our team is struggling.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
except it never happened, change the record ace. ive been more loyal to leeds than you have been to spurs.
your outbursts are well documented.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I started going to WHL when I was 9 mate, had a ST, travelled home away and abroad to follow the useless fackers, I’ve invested more than enough time, money and emotion to justify ranting about ineptitude when I see it, but like any football fan I’m always back for the next game. 30 years of misery maybe, peppered with a few infrequent highs, but you cannot question my loyalty to this club and doubt very much you’ve shown more loyalty to yours - you don’t get extra points for not giving up on them because they get relegated, no fan can control how good/sheite their team are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
exactly ace, but why do you call me a liverpool brown noser. i watch a lot of prem games when we were in the championship and i liked how pool played the game. but i wouldn't trade all of liverpools silverware for the best or worst times since i followed leeds. just for the record i think you're a good knowledgeable poster.

Yeah... At last count you were 7th, potless again, and in the European conference shat league

Spurs were the first team to win the UEFA Cup which was then the third tier European trophy. Now our fans think we are too good for this sort of comp and should be challenging for the title. I am as bemused as opposition fans who question where our sense of entitlement comes from
