BBC Excuses

So while the BBC apologized for the prolonged coverage of Eriksen today they laid the blame solely at UEFAs feet

One word…. b0llocks

During many matches in many competitions where there is a host broadcaster we see them cut back to the game late where the commentators are mid sentence etc

They are receiving the host feed, they could easily pull it and switch to the studio.

Pathetic attempt to shift the blame

Right. Someone comes on the tv and says "all black people are bad." We should just change the channel and ignore it? I know that's not what's happened here but your change the channel argument supports this. Mate, it's ridiculously stupid

======

The only ridiculously stupid thing is you comparing someone potentially dying on a football pitch, and images of their distressed wife. To some imaginary scenario where a person shouts black people are bad.

Not comparing it. Just saying what a stupid argument that you should change the channel if you don't like what you're seeing or hearing is. Re-read my comments. It's pretty clear that that's all I was doing
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A more relevant comparison would be this.

BBC schedule a programme which is going to contain hate speech. You choose to watch the programme, kmowing the content, then omplain about it being aired.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really? So I was watching the match knowing that a player would collapse and be battling for his life, and was watching those uncomfortable scenes purely through choice? Eriksen's near death experience was scheduled. Okay then
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, but you could have switched off the second he collapsed. It was obvious a major incident.

Maybe the BBC should have cut it earlier. But this was a dose of reality. People live such sheltered lives, watching fake and silly people on TV—the minute they saw this, it burst the bubble they live in.

I thought the BBC's choice of garden rescue as a fill-in programme was odd

I've seen far worse on foreign tv channels

This is nothing!

Probably worth considering not wasting broadcasting time/space on such a futile exercise in unedifying faffery in the first place.

“ The BBC has apologised and said a mistake was made after ‘accidentally’ mentioning Scotland and Wales during their EURO 2020 build-up. More than 40,000 people complained after Gary Lineker let it slip that England weren’t the only home nation involved in this summer’s European Football Championships.

The BBC initially defended the faux pas broadcast live last weekend, but now accepts a different approach should have been taken.

In an official statement, the BBC said it recognised the distress it caused amongst many England supporters and it would be reviewing its guidance on such offensive language with immediate effect. Football fans across the UK were left stunned when presenter Gary Lineker inadvertently acknowledged Scotland and Wales’ participation in the tournament.“

If you cut control of you continue watching or not then its pointless trying to make you understand that as much as the coverage was questionable, its the viewers responsibility police what they choose to continue watching.

Did you actually read the article? It's human behaviour to keep watching because of very old instincts.

You and Culer are definitely the same person. If not, identical twins.

If it upset you all so much, why not just use your remote and turn over.

I never get this argument. What you're saying is that people should be able to say whatever the hell they like and the onus is on those listening to change the channel. The whole "change the channel" argument is dreadful. Again, I don't think BBC should be hung, drawn and quartered for their distasteful coverage, but at the same time the change the channel argument is crap
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You can’t give offence, people can only take offence. Something I don’t like, move away from it(use the remote)
