Fickle Fans?

Looking at a number of articles lately, several “Spurs" fans have little or no interest in the upcoming season, or so they say.

When you have supported Spurs as long as I have, 63 years, I have seen pretty much every scenario involving the club. League title, 6 FA Cups, 1 Cup Winners Cup, 2 UEFA Cup, League cup and one Champions League Final. Then there was relegation to Division 2 but instant return to 1st division following year.

We have flirted with bankruptcy and survived, we certainly owe large amounts of money now but will also overcome this.

I have seen some unbelievable footballers wearing the famous white shirt, and I have seen some pretty bad players too, players like Jason Cundy (on loan initially from Chelsea and who makes Dier look like Bobby Moore!

We have had some inspirational players too, like Ardiles, Hoddle, Ginola Perryman, Mabbutt, Jennings, Mullery, England, Campbell, King , Sheringham, Peters, Chivers, Klinsmann, Lineker, Gascoigne, Bale, Gilzean, Venables, , VDV, and before them Blanchflower, Greaves, Mackay, White, Smith, Jones and Dyson.
Apologies if I have missed out anyone, I would list more bad players, but it would be depressing!

I have experienced the highs of supporting Spurs, and some have been incredibly brilliant like our defeat of Atletico Madrid in 1963 in the Cup Winners Cup. The atmosphere (for a then 13 year old boy) was unbelievably brilliant in Feyenoord’s ground in Rotterdam.

Then came the lowest point in the mid 70’s, we should have been relegated in 1975, but beat Champions Leeds on the last day of the season to stay up. In 1977 we were relegated and it was not a good time. The club showed faith in Keith Burkinshaw which proved worth it as we won two FA Cups and the UEFA during his EIGHT year spell as manager.

The point I am trying to make is that if you are a genuine fan, then you don’t ever give up on them.
You can be upset, whinge & moan about them and throw your toys out of the pram, but you never ever give up on the club.

Yeah it's just people getting sulky. No one motivated enough to go on a forum like this regularly is going to stop supporting the club.

I do not understand this final paragraph!
Who is it you think is "giving up"??
Yeah...there's a lot of moaning...and rightly so.
Levy has been a total pants disaster as chairman.
Does not have a clue how to build a winning Premiership team.
Always tries to do it cheap.

WHAT WE ALL...ALLL WANT IS FOR ENIC TO GIVE UP....AND SELL OUT.

No fan is giving up. No fan I know.
Where on earth did you get that stupid idea?
------------e ----------------------------------------------------------
Both Don & Steve F have effectively said they have had enough and would not be bothering to watch the team next season. Now I think this is possibly just hot air being released, I don’t know, only they do.

As for Enic, whether you like them or not, they have invested hundreds of millions in the club and are highly unlikely to budge unless a bid well in excess of £2.5billion is put on the table.

Wrong. ERnic did not invest anything in the club.....they borrowed the money. The club is mortgaged. Lewis refuses to use his own money.

They purchased 27% of the shares from Alan Sugar and then the remaining shares a little while later. The club was foundering when Enic took over. The training ground was to mortgaged, only the stadium is mortgaged.
Investment has many guises including experience in running financially sustainable businesses, which Spurs have benefited from.

When Enic took over Spurs were not even in the top 30 most valuable clubs in Europe, we are now in the Top Ten most valuable clubs in the World.

Purchasing shares from Sugar is not "investing in the club".
Building a new stadium IS investing in the club.
But that money was borrowed using the club as collateral.
The club is mortgaged.
And Lewis has made is clear that he will not put any of his personal money into the club. Period.
As for your statistics.....wherever you manage to find them, you should give links in support.
I doubt them.
"in top ten most valuable"? How in the hell is that measured?
Loose Harry Kane and the club's top ten status in whatever, will suddenly disappear.
Get real, GG....
ENIC out is the only solution.

You're both right. And wrong

ENIC didn't leverage the club to buy the shares and leach money out to pay for it like the Glazers have, but they haven't invested their own money either. We're self sustained, and sustainable, largely thanks to Levy's leadership. Which costs us a pretty penny, but I'd argue (off the pitch at least) overall it's definitely been worth it.

ENIC Out is only the solution if you can find a buyer that's willing to lose hundreds of millions of their own money buying success.

Levy completely out of football decisions, and a proper scouting department that will make good use of our new found wealth, is the realistic solution.

What does your stupid ranking mean?
Numbers 3, 6 and 10 win stuff.
The rest are losers, and Spurs having won nothing for eons are probably one of the worst number 10 deloitte clubs ever!

Any fan would far rather have their club in the position of number 13 than number 9 because number 13 wins stuff, and has the top manager going..

You asked for a link and when you get one you then refuse to accept it!

For your information it is not my “stupid” ranking, it is one of the most accepted ratings systems available in sport today and your comments are just your opinion, or are you suddenly the expert on all things financial within the sports World?

I did not refuse to accept it..
I pointed out what rubbish it is as a method of judging a team.
