Are the PL Fixtures Randomly Drawn?

I used to think that the PL fixtures selections were random, subject to some tweeking re Spurs and Arsenal not playing home games on the same weekend etc. and issues around Christmas fixtures. But I'm now thinking that there's no element of randomness to them at all.

Do you think someone is having a laugh by matching us with City for the first game (viz-a-viz Kane)?

Why do we always seem to play Arsenal and Chelsea in consecutive fixtures?

Why do we so frequently end up playing Leicester on the final day of the season?

It doesn't really matter who we play (and when), but I am intrigued. Does anyone else think the fixtures are "fixed" and not random at all anymore?

There has to be some fixing of the fixtures going on as I know for a fact that our owners paid extra to have all our games played at home this season.

I see that some people have missed the point of my article and think I am claiming some sort of conspiracy against Spurs.

I did say in my article that it doesn't matter who we play and when.

The purpose of the post was to see if anyone thinks there's any random element to the fixtures draws nowadays or whether they are all essentially fixed.

Fixed mate. Spurs never get a promoted side at home first game.

Nor would I want us to. The promoted sides can often start well and surprise a few people..Norwich, Huddersfield etc

Ignoring your comment about "angry emails" (which my article isn't!), this is actually extremely informative.

I think that there is an algorithm that factors in Sky requirements, Super Sunday's etc as well as teams that use certain venues etc.

Then, once that is done there's probably a review with BT and Sky who'll manually make some requests.

You might be right. Maybe the City game is because it would add some great spice in the build up to the new season.

The narrative will be "which team will Kane be playing for?".

I cannot remember that, I think can remember losing away to them one season.
