How does Southgate get away with it ?

Southgate is not very bright and average at best, in the World Cup he got so much credit but in reality with a great draw England sneaked through against Columbia on penalties and lost to Croatia - the zenith of our efforts was beating Sweden.👀
England nicked a 1-0 in a mediocre performance against Croatia a few days ago, today he keeps Grealish on the bench until the last 30 minutes when everybody could see England needed his creativity much earlier and then brings him onto the wing(!) whilst taking off Foden of all people !

Then he brings on the inconsistent Rashford instead of Calvert-Lewin !

The whole build-up is so sloooow and Southgate looks clueless. 😡

Can you explain how my opinion is wrong? Rice is quite clearly better than Phillips to every football fan othe than Leeds fans. And I have already said I would have started Bamford so no bias here

The dimwit was Southgate, crossed lines mate.

No fan of Phillips per say and certainly not for an England midfield but Rice I believe is hyped up to much and more so when two of them are basically doing the same job.

No grief from me personally to you Tomkins.

Rice is a decent player, but in that type of game you need someone to get on the ball and set the tempo. Playing sideways passes for 90 minutes isn’t going to break any team down.

Phillips had a good game against Croatia but you could see even after 10 minutes we didn’t need 2 holding midfielders. Should have put Mount back alongside either Rice or Phillips and played Sterling, Foden and Grealish off of Kane.

Obviously the intensity on and of the ball wasn’t there either but that’s a whole other story.

Rice is a destroyer a protector, he’s not a playmaker. He’s decent at what he does but he won’t make a team tick. He’s been vastly overrated in my opinion , talk of 80m transfer fees it’s just lunacy.,I’d expect a makelele class destroyer to command those fees, rice is nowhere near that good.

I think you guys need to stop kidding yourselves.

The only world class player in that side is Kane and look how shat he is right now, the rest are about as much use as t1ts on a fish when it comes to reliability.

Add to that Kane just looked awful looks like his legs have gone, absolutely no mobility whatsoever. Tottenham should be looking to offload him while they can still get a good price.

He didn't get any service. Sterling and Foden were setting each up all the time, and Mount as shooting from any range. No one looked to play in Kane or look up and setup the front players. It was like each player, Mount, Foden and Sterling were looking to be the hero of the day and ended up being the zero of the day

Bellingham should start. Only dynamic midfielder we have.

Southgates a textbook manager, the kind of guy who's gone on all the managerial seminars and training programmes but has zero spark about him. Perfect for the FA though who love a safe option.

Yes, he reminds me of Ron Greenwood at international level (that IS a while back !) - totally out of his depth but says all the right things and wears all the right blazers and virtue signals wherever possible…🙄
