Kiko

Kiko Casilla is set to complete a season long loan to Elche in Spain, in a hunt for first team football. His agent says that Kiko "loves the club" (in regards to Leeds), but wants to be playing. He also talked about how well Meslier has been playing, and that the club don't think Casilla will displace him. Not official yet, but reported to be going through at the start of next week.

Obviously a player who stirs up a lot of emotion, mainly negative, but personally think he wasn't a bad player, or even a bad apple, really, just someone who couldn't pull himself out of a rut when things weren't going well, which is one of the things I have been particularly impressed with Meslier with.

Unclear as to what proportion of wages may be being paid (Kiko is reportedly on about 40k a week, but that might have gone up after promotion), or if we will sign a new goalkeeper, or if Caprile will step up as second choice.

Probably the most disappointing signing I can remember - from what we expected to what we got.

1st season he was decent without being remarkable until the error vs Derby. Then 2nd season he was decent until December and then he was a car crash, costing us goals every game.

Good for all parties that he's moved on.

Agree Lubo. I think you said (during the last couple of games when Casilla played) that he wasn't bad at all.
I agreed then too. Circumstances have torpedoed him.

He wasn't bad. However, he wasn't anywhere close to
40k a week good. Like every ex-player, wish him luck.
Would not be surprised if this loan flips to a perm in
January window.

Think there is an option to make it permanent at the end of the season.

Personally, would like us to sign a seasoned goalkeeper to be second choice. Would be looking at Scott Carson, personally. Free transfer, after a couple of years working with Guardiola. Veteran who's been there and done it, seems like a good egg, happy not to be first choice, home grown, and can't imagine his wage demands would be that high.

Completely agree.

Give him a year with the option for another and it more or less punts the need to worry about keepers 2 years down the road.

Scott Carson spent two years as third choice keeper at City making 1 appearance, he was not good enough to be offered a new deal there nor at Derby, his parent club, a club destined for relegation this year. Is he good enough to be our second string keeper. Not a chance.

He's not being brought into play though is he. He's being brought as a cheap squad player. Anyone good enough to be starting PL is going to be starting PL games. Pretty obvious.

Officially announced by the club.

Would think we will be bringing in a keeper soonish

Victor Orta talking to a potential goalkeeper signing today, apparently. A young goalkeeper who was identified at the same time as Meslier, who has gone on to play more first team football, according to the YEP, whilst another young goalkeeper has been identified as a potential target, who is playing domestically.

I see Jonty is well on the pulse of the news of the football club, and articles already been made to address said news.

I think the evidence sounded pretty damning regarding the racism. For that I am glad he's gone. It is tempered by the support he received from Bielsa & the squad which suggest maybe there's more to it but doubt there's that much smoke without fire.

I'm also glad he's gone because he was/is way over paid for a sub keeper.

But fans are too quick to pretend he never had a good game. The first half of our promotion season he was outstanding for a big chunk of the games. He's obviously got serious composure issues though and one mistake led to another and another.

Is it Jonty's article, or his ego's?

Is there room for the both of them on this forum?
