Sneaked a 1 nil win over the Czechs.

Beat a German side on the wane, 2-0 but deservedly so.
Demolished Ukraine.
Got a dodgy penalty to see of Denmark in Extra Time.
Lost of penalties to an unspectacular Italian side.
Southgate.
Credit to him for getting to a final, did what he needed to do to get there and managed to squeeze out two proper performances but his inclination to side with caution ultimately cost England a chance of winning the competition. England had the best attacking options of any team in the competition but failed to use them properly and ended up spending so much of the final on the back foot because of the set up.
Final
England were impressive for 30mins then let Italy take charge and never got back into it. Kane was so good for 30mins then replaced by the invisible man. Shaw, Walker and Rice were the only players who performed well enough in actual game to deserve to be on the winning side.
The final was there for the taking. England will regret not being brave enough to go for it for years.
Penalties.
It was a big risk to put on two guys that had barely had a touch of the ball in such an occasion and rely on them hitting the net. Saka as the 5th penalty taker was criminal, he had an absolute stinker from the minute he came on so why would you give him that responsibility. Henderson being subbed back off was also strange imo, i seem to remember him being a good penalty taker in shoot outs for Liverpool. Well done to the golden glove winner Pickford in the shoot out, gave England a platform to win it that they didn't take.
Fans.
Disgraceful scenes before the final, fighting each other, the police, stewards, Italian fans. The fat bigoted English nationalist element of support are an embarrassment to the country.
Lots of decent fans as well though but all of your tears are equally as tasty.

False premise. It was never " ...there for the taking.... " that's just bog standard arrogance - and part of the general and specific problem.
That set of player's over achieved in reaching the final, kudos to them for that.

If you watched the first half they were all over the place, and if we had gone for it may have scored another to make it difficult for the Italians considering our defence was solid.
Like I said, a missed opportunity.
