Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Eric Ramsay has joined the first-team coaching set-up.
The former Chelsea coach will work one-on-one with individual players and also take ownership over training on the side's set-plays.
“We've been fortunate enough to convince Eric Ramsay to come and join the best club in the world and in the country," Ole told club media at Carrington on Monday. “He’s a very highly rated coach who is going to be working with individuals and in charge of set-plays as well

A coach specialised to train the players in how to deal with set pieces? Yes please, good to see Ole has identified a major weakness of ours last season and is trying to rectify it.

You forgot this bit—again someone were already familiar with:
“We’re excited. He’s young, fresh and with new ideas, an innovative coach we know from before. Kieran [McKenna] knows him really well from Loughborough, so we’re very pleased with that.”
It's good that we have a new coach, but I was hoping for someone with more experience who can tell Ole what to do.
It helped Southgate to have coaches frequently advising him on the touchline. Ours on the other hand, just look clueless with an 'I don't know looks.

Yes, but I'm referring to during the game. Is a young, new coach going to go up to Ole and tell him to tweak something, or it's time for a substitution?

I'm not sure Solskjaer can win. He has Phelan as the ultimate experienced old dog of a coach and people moan he's past it and we're crying out for new ideas. He adds young innovative coaches to his team and they lack experience.
We fans also seem to infer a great deal about the nature and the quality of the coaches from their body language, etc. Remember when Carlos Queiroz was supposed to be single-handedly ruining attacking football (a theory that somehow died down around 2007)?

There's a bit of a chasm between Phelan (who's not exactly modern in his ideas) and the young coaches. It wouldn't hurt to have something more in-between.
It's not just the demeanour—Southgate's coaches are much more vocal during games, whereas our dugout is timid.
