Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the first signing of the summer as US national team goalkeeper Ethan Horvath arrives on Trentside from Club Brugge.
Horvath won man of the match in the CONCACAF Nations League final last month, after saving a penalty in the last minute of extra time as the USA beat Mexico 3-2 to win the trophy for the first time.
Does this mean Jordan Smith is either going out on loan or going to be sold?
I thought he was a competent keeper last time he had a prolonged run in the team under the Breadman?
This guy is meant to offer Brice Samba more of a challenge for no' 1 spot?

He's played out of his mind in the Finals against Mexico. If he can do that on a consistent basis, think y'all have a good keeper on your hands.
Whether he can beat out Brice Samba, I have no idea.

My guess Smith will be sold. I like Smith and would have o worries if he was our second choice, but any transfer income for Smith would be good.
I expect the season will start with Brice in goal but knowing there is someoene Hughton trusts waiting to step up.
At the moment the starting eleven looks like:
Samba
Gabriel Worrall McKenna Blackett
Colback Yates
Lolley Carvalho Mighten
Grabban
Johnson maybe a starter in place of Lolley (if not fit) or Carvalho.
Hughton will obviously know which areas of the team need improvement, but we definitely need more pace and more creativity.

When you look at that team, and based on last season, there really is only 3/4 players I trust to perform consistently over a season for us.
The good news is we are very much in the hat to have James Garner back on loan, which will be a big help 😊

That could be a good shout; haven't they just sold their keeper to Wolves.
I do think Brice likes it here though. He enjoys the slightly cult status he has among the fans.

I make it 5. We have half the team needed to make the play offs. Samba, Worrall, McKenna, Yates, and Mighten. are good enough. Jury out on Lolley and Grabban. If after a good close season to recover and recuperate they come back close to their best it would mean we need four more to be brought in or graduate from the academy to make the playoffs.
Sounds easy.
