fool me once

and all that jazz

with Pogba in the news again ( the norm) regarding a possible move to PSG, you have to wonder how the hell we have got into the same position with the same player twice.

for the last few years there have been mutterings of him not being happy and looking to leave, so why have we let him run his contract down to 11 months and the possibility of losing him for nothing, when 12 months ago we could have pocketed around 75 million for him.

Or we offered it but the player refused a renewal / to the terms in 2019.

possible, though i haven't heard any mutterings about the club offering a new contract until very recently.

in general, if i were in charge, i would sell any player who refused to re-sign with 2 years or less left on his contract. but with pogba we seem to have taken the approach of warding off potential suitors by sticking a silly price on his head - in the summer after the 18/19 season i saw figures of £140-180m bandied about - and here we are.

We clearly hoped he would sign an extension.

Let's be honest, if we get £45m for him, after 5 years at the club then we haven't done too bad.

yes, i think that's probably true. and of course he still might.

and c. £50m, with just the one year left on his contract, wouldn't be a disgrace, agreed.

The only fools are those prepared to sack the club's best player - through ignorance, prejudice or both - and keep the bog-ordinary players like Rashford that are preventing the same most contributive player from being even more contributive.

Pathetic people.

They're fooling no one but other fools.

We wouldn't have got £75m for him last summer due to that illness that was doing the rounds.

Trouble is, PSG and Madrid can’t afford him this summer.

Madrid are skint and PSG just added Ramos, Winj, Donnarumma, Periera and Hakimi to their obscene wage bill.

Tbf the illness hasn't gone away and PSG are spending unprevedented sums on their wage bill this summer. UEFA can only sit back and watch

Do you think they give a fack?! UEFA will probably wait 5 years to investigate, then claim it's time bound and throw in Covid as an exceptional circumstance. We need to milk that cow for all it's worth.

Personally, I think we should also invite Pogba to give an impromptu press conference and tell us all what his intentions are. After all, his agent has been happy to tell us he wants to force a move, repeatedly over the years. I always said that Pogba could put a stop to that if he wanted to. The truth is he didn't want to.

If and when we do sell, he'll be best remembered as the "best player in the Euros," yet also the guy who got caught dallying in midfield and sent his country out to bloody Switzerland.
