I’m slowly turning

I have to say, I’m impressed so far with the business we have done the last few days, but the big issue still hasn’t been rectified yet and that’s the defence. I know that’s what we clearly are looking at strengthening and going all in 40 mil plus for this Romero, plus the Japanese lad proves this. The club know the defence are not good enough and that’s great, but until these deals get over the line, I can’t get too excited because we have been let down so many times with transfers etc.

On a positive note, this Bryan Gil looks really exciting I must say. Looks like he is very creative, which is something we were lacking slightly from our midfield. Not to mention the emergence of Skipp, who looks a real diamond of a player, plus Scarlett who will no doubt be our next star. Things are slowly progressing and I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Still, there is a lot of work to do for me and the deadwood like Sanchez, Aurier etc are all still around. The defence really needs sorting and I’m hoping we sort out this Romero from Atalanta. He looks a beast. I just want spurs to get some quality signings through the door, build that defence and give Nuno a platform to work on. If he is backed and he fails, then that’s down to him, but I want the club to be ambitious. That’s all I have ever wanted. So far, so good. Still lots to do though,

Yeah, you're right, Don. It is positive in some senses. The fact that we seem to be more decisive. There's far more certainty regarding incomings and outgoings which is a good thing but like you say, we've only got one over the line so far and that wasn't really a crucial position for us.

Also, those suggesting we're going to pay £35m for Gil (Lamela and the £22m roughly), 18m for the Japanese fella, 40m for Romero and so many others rumoured to be in the pipeline without funds coming from somewhere. Conte pulled out because he learned the transfer budget would come from outgoings. That only means one thing. Kane is off. I personally think the deal is already done but there's an agreement between both clubs not to announce it to avoid us having to pay inflated fees to clubs who know we'll have the dosh for transfers. I think that's why we're doing our business a little earlier than usual. Just my opinion but I can't see this kind of outlay without money coming in. It's not the ENIC way, regardless of Paratici. He's only as good as the money he's provided.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why are you convinced a deal has been done re Kane? The manager has already said that Kane will be a Spurs player come the start of the season. Why are you convinced you are right and he is wrong?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because declaring to the world, and more importantly selling clubs, that he is staying stops those selling clubs from holding us to ransom. If we sell now the whole world knows we'll have £150m in the bank. What makes more business sense is to agree behind close doors, take the money quietly but only make the news public once we've redistributed those funds throughout the squad. It's poker, pure and simple. I'm not saying he's defo off but I'm just weighing the money that's clearly being spent with the climate and the type of club we are. We've been here before. Just my opinion though.

Supposes to be a big week transfers wise. Lets see what happens.

But the optimistic levels have increased abit.

Though perhaps don’t get too excited about Kounde.

He really wants a club in the CL

Supposedly we had a few agreed with Sanchez going the other way but Kounde isn’t keen

we can still give them.sanchez, right ?

Yeah we can. I believe there are multiple clubs who’re interested.

The perfect deal for Spurs would be a swap + cash deal for Kounde however we’re not giving up. Depends who goes in for him and if they can afford him.

Main focus right now is Romero. Hopefully we do wrap it up soon but it could easily go into next week.

There is a possibility that Winks could go this week also

We paid of the immediate covid loan with another from BOA which is paid over a long, long time freeing some capital after the loss in revenue.

We will sell the deadwood but don't forget that we've made around £26m from Toby and Foyth.

We will not sell Kane this summer, no way unless a crazy bid comes in. Even then I'd say it's highly unlikely
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If Toby also goes that is £26m IN and between them probably about £150/wk off the wages.

So far spent £21 on Gil and as a 20 year old no doubt his wages will be half Lamela's so probably another £50k of the weekly wage bill.

Keeper came in on loan, probably £50k a week, max, doubling his Atlanta wage packet.

Bale's gone, so another £200k/wk saved. Rose also so another £75k saved.

So, so far we have a -£4m net spend and dropped the wage bill by about £20m (£400k/week)

Doesn't smack of "spending the Kane money" to me. If anything its more like making room to get some more players in and especially if the likes of Sisokko, Sanchez, Aurier, Dier, Winks leave.
